Mango production registered 63 thousand 114 tons, highlighting Piura, first producer, that contributed 69.5% of the national total

In November of 2024, the mango production totalized 63 thousand 114 tons, with a growth of 433.3%, compared to the same month of 2023, contributing the department of Piura, main producer, by reaching a growth of 568.8% with the participation of 69.5% of the national total; which main destination, in the foreign market and the agro-industry. This was informed by the National Institute of Statistics and Informatics (INEI) in the Technical Report Peru: Economic Outlook by Department during November of 2024.
In addition, there were registered positive results in Tumbes (455.3%), Cusco (57.6%), Madre de Dios (31.9%), Ayacucho (19,6%) and Huánuco (17.9%), among the main ones. Nevertheless, it decreased in Ucayali (-10.6%) and San Martín (-5.2%).
This favorable performance, was determined by the suitable weather conditions and availability of water resource that allowed the increase of cultivated areas.
Four departments contributed with the 40.4% of the potato production of the country
The potato production increased in the main production areas of Ica (244.6%), Arequipa (228.0%), Lima (78.0%) and Cajamarca (14.8%), concentrating the 40.4% of the national total. In addition, it increased in Huancavelica (115.1%), Apurímac (53.4%), Tacna (23.0%), Ancash (8.6%) and Junín (5.8%). Meanwhile, it decreased in Amazonas (-58.2%), Ayacucho (-48.1%), La Libertad (-41.1%), Piura (-29.0%), Pasco (-24.0%) and Huánuco (-5.0%).
At national level, the production of this tuber, reached 294 thousand 368 tons, greater volume in 17.8% compared to the same month of 2023, explained by the greater harvested areas, before the appropriate water and environmental conditions that favored the appropriate application of agricultural techniques such as the “aporque”, fertilization and weeding.
74.6% of the poultry production concentrated in the departments of Lima and La Libertad
The poultry production registered a positive behavior in the departments of Lima (4.6%) and La Libertad (2.0%), which contributed with the 74.6% of the national total. In addition, it increased in Ica (1.2%), Arequipa (0.7%), Piura (0.6%) and Ancash (0.3%). This result, was based in the greater placement of BB chicken meat line and fattening turkey.
Nevertheless, poultry production reduced in Ucayali (-4.1%), Lambayeque (-2.9%), Cajamarca (-2.8%), Loreto (-2.7%), San Martín (-2.6%), Junín (-1.7%) and Tacna (-1.4%), among others.
Four departments contributed with the 49.6% of the total copper production of the country
In November of 2024, the copper production decreased in the departments of Tacna (-33.8%), Ancash (-30.0%), Moquegua (-12.5%) and Cusco (-5.3%); in spite of this, contributed with the 49.6% of the national total.
Likewise, it contracted in Huancavelica (-89.9%), Ayacucho (-49.2%), Puno (-9.2%), Pasco (-4.0%), Huánuco (-2.6%) and Arequipa (-0.04%). On the other hand, it grew in Apurímac (39.6%), Junín (35.5%), Cajamarca (21.0%), Ica (11.3%) and Lima (10.8%).
At national level, the copper production decreased by 4.6%, compared to the same month of 2023, due to the reduced extraction performed in the companies Antamina, Southern Perú Copper Corporation, Anglo American Quellaveco, Minera Antapaccay and Nexa Resources Perú.
On the other hand, the volumes of extraction of the following minerals: silver, iron and tin; meanwhile, it decreased the following minerals: gold, zinc, lead and molybdenum.
Electricity production increased in 12 departments
The production of electric energy showed a positive behavior in 12 departments, it was the case of Huánuco (45.7%), Ica (30.9%), Ancash (24.5%), Arequipa (18.9%), Huancavelica (14.0%), Piura (11.0%), Cusco (8.2%), Pasco (7.5%), Puno (3.9%), Junín (1.9%), Tacna (1.3%) and Moquegua (0.9%); which together concentrated the 47.1% of the total generated.
Meanwhile, it reduced in Lima (-2.3%), first producer of electric energy in the country; followed by Cajamarca (-60.6%), Ucayali (-50.5%), La Libertad (-24.4%) and Loreto (-0.3%), among others.
At national level, the electricity production grew by 3.6%, mainly driven by the greater generation of energy in the hydroelectric power stations of Chaglla, Cerro del Águila, Mantaro, Huinco, Huanza, Machupicchu and San Gabán II. The INEI, also informed that it increased the generation of non-conventional renewable energy (Eolic and solar). Nevertheless, it was affected by the electric generation in the thermic power stations of Tumbes, Aguaytía and San Jacinto, among others.
Revenues collected by Internal Taxes registered a growth of 9.6%
In November of 2024, the revenues collected by internal taxes were 11 thousand 329 million 874 thousand Soles and expanded in 9.6% compared to the same month of 2023, due to the greater payments performed in the item income taxes of first, third and fifth category; value-added taxes; excise taxes and the special tax to mining, before the dynamism of different economic activities.
During the month under analysis, in twenty-two (22) departments increased the amount collected. Therefore, it outstood Lima (7.2%), followed by Lambayeque (90.3%), Cusco (74.8%), Arequipa (39.3%), Ica (37.8%) and La Libertad (27.3%), representing together the 94.0% of the total collected. On the other hand, it decreased in Piura (-39.6%) and Tumbes (-6.3%).
