Traffic flow of vehicles at national level increased 3.8% in November of 2024

The National Institute of Statistics and Informatics (INEI), informed that during the month of November of 2024, the National Rate of Vehicular flow the one that reports the movement of light-duty and heavy-duty units through the tollbooths of the country registered an increase of 3.8% compared to the same month of 2023, likewise, in the last twelve months (December 2023 – November 2024) grew by 4.0%.


In the Technical Report Vehicular Flow by Tollbooths is stated that the monthly result was influenced by the traffic flow of light-duty units (4.3%) and heavy-duty units (3.2%).

Traffic flow of light-duty vehicles increased by 4.3%
During November of 2024, the traffic Flow of light-duty vehicles through the tollbooths of the country, grew by 4.3% compared to the same month of 2023. This favorable performance was due to the greater movement of people due to the celebration of the All Saints Day; added to the increase of domestic and international tourism; and the performance of different events and gastronomic fairs in the country. It is important to mention that the mentioned activities boosted the retail trade, reflected in the high sales registered in supermarkets and minimarkets; also the accommodation and restaurants sector.

The tollbooths with greater traffic flow, were: To the north, in Piura (Loma Larga Baja 14.6%, Chulucanas 7.2% and Piura Sullana 4.4%), San Martín (Aguas Claras 10.3%, Pongo 5.3% and Moyobamba 4.9%), La Libertad (Chicama 9.4%, Pacanguilla 6.1% and Virú 2.2%), Lambayeque (Diversion Olmos 7.1%), Áncash (Huarmey 7.0%) and Cajamarca (Pomahuaca-Pucará 4.4%).

In the center, it increased in Lima (Serpentine of Pasamayo 24.5%, Fortaleza 13.1%, Variant of Pasamayo 3.8% and Corcona 2.7%) and Junín (Casaracra 13.0% and Quiulla 12.3%). In addition, in the south, in Apurímac (Pichirhua 14.1%), Ica (Jahuay Chincha 14.1%), Arequipa (Matarani Concesión 12.6%), Moquegua (Ilo 6.0% and Pampa Cuellar 5.8%), Puno (Santa Lucía 5.4%) and Ayacucho (Pampa Galera 2.5%).

Traffic flow of heavy-duty vehicles grew by 3.2%
During November of 2024, the traffic flow of heavy-duty vehicles registered through the tollbooths at national level increased by 3.2% compared to the same month of 2023, influenced by the greater requirement of this service, referring to the Agricultural sectors, due to the favorable weather conditions registered in some regions of the country; Fishing, due to the greater landing of anchovy for indirect human consumption or for industrial use; Manufacturing due to the growth of primary manufacturing and non-primary manufacturing subsectors (consumables and capital goods); and the wholesale trade encouraged by the sale of liquid, solid and gaseous fuels; foods and beverages; and machinery and equipment, among others.

This positive result was evidenced in the following tollbooths: To the north, in La Libertad (Pacanguilla 15.0%, Virú 12.9% and Chicama 11.4%), San Martín (Moyobamba 12.7%, Aguas Claras 4.0% and Pongo 3.4%), Áncash (Huarmey 12.5%), Piura (Chulucanas 9.4% and Paita 7.8%), Cajamarca (Pomahuaca-Pucará 6.1%) and Lambayeque (Diversion Olmos 1.1%).

Likewise, it increased in the center, in Lima (Fortaleza 14.1%, Serpentine of Pasamayo 9.4%, El Paraíso 8.3% and Variant of Pasamayo 1.3%) and Junín (Quiulla 5.8%); and in the south, Ica (Marcona 11.7%, Jahuay Chincha 5.0%), Apurímac (Pichirhua 7.6%), Ayacucho (Pampa Galera 6.4%) and Arequipa (Matarani Concesión 1.4%).

Traffic flow of heavy-duty vehicles for loading of 3 to 7 axle increased by 2.8%
During November of 2024, the traffic flow of heavy-duty vehicles for loading of 3 to 7 axle registered an increase of 2.8%compared with the same month of 2023, determined by the greater traffic flow of heavy-duty vehicles, such as trailers, semi-trailers and heavy-duty trucks of 4 axle (3.5%), 5 axle (7.7%), 6 axle (3.6%) and 7 axle (15.3%); meanwhile, it decreased the transportation of 3 axle vehicles (-0.7%).
