Commercial activity increased 3.45% in November of 2024

In November of 2024, Commerce sector registered a growth of 3.45% compared to the same month of the last year, a performance that was driven by the dynamism of wholesale trade, retail trade and automotive trade.
The National Institute of Statistics and Informatics (INEI) informed that during the period of January-November of 2024, this sector accumulated a growth of 2.90% compared to the same period of the year 2023.


The wholesale commerce increased by 3.44%
The wholesale commerce grew by 3.44% due to the dynamism of the sale of solid, liquid and gas fuels, lubricants and oils, due to its distribution towards productive sectors and supply retail stores. Likewise, the commercialization of computers, peripheral equipment and informatic programs outstood favored by corporative renewals and capturing of new clients.
The same trend showed the sale of nutritional products such as instant powdered beverages, shakes and poultry products; as well as equipment’s for computer security, solutions of networks and systems of electronic security.
In addition, the sale of systems of broadcast video for broadcasting, including TV channels and producing houses; the sale of other household goods by rotation of white and brown line, electronics, toys, pharmaceutics, cosmetics, articles for household and books, favored by marketing strategies and new branches. Likewise, the sale of construction materials and hardware store by greater works, demand of concrete, wood and ceramics.
Also evidenced a greater requirement of agriculture machinery and supplies based in the greater demand of irrigation system; the sale of foods, beverages and tobacco for products of basic necessity and festivities of new year; as well as the sale of heavy machinery associated to the demand registered by mining, construction and medical tenders.


The retail commerce increased by 3.39%
The INEI informed that the retail commerce grew by 3.39% driven by the sale in supermarkets and minimarkets, positive development that was associated to strategies such as Christmas campaign, that included coupons for consumer, discounts by points, promotions in modern communication channels such as mobile applications and greater inflow in convenience stores.
At the same time, the sale of computers, peripheral equipment, informatic programs and telecommunications, due to greater demand of software and informatic equipment and incorporation of sales stands of mobile operators in establishments. The same trend was observed in the sale in department stores, with support of the Black Friday, discounts, use of credit cards, expansion of electronic commerce and special strategies. It also increased the sale of clothing items, footwear and leather articles influenced by campaigns and stores openings.
Likewise, it grew the sale of pharmaceutical, cosmetic and personal care; commercialization of medical products; launching of new products, advertising and expansion of sales points. In addition, it increased the sale of electro-domestics, furniture, lightning devices and other articles for household, outstanding air conditioning equipment, lamps, luminaires and musical instruments. In addition, it grew the sale of fuels in gas stations and self-services in response to the greater vehicle flow and opening of sales point. Nevertheless, the retail sale of sport articles registered a negative trend.


The automotive trade increased by 3.88%
During November of 2024, the automotive trade registered an increase of 3.88% influenced by the demand of light-duty vehicles (sport, off-road vehicle, pick-up, van), heavy-duty vehicles (minibus, omnibus, tractor-units) and small vehicles (motorcycles, tri-motos), due to the dynamism of the sectors such as mining and construction, and the campaigns such as Motor-Wow Fest and the reduction of importation cost. In addition, it grew the sale of parts and accessories for vehicles, due to the greater rotation of lubricants and filters. The sale, maintenance and repair of motorcycles and automotive vehicles, favored by public tenders and opening of branches, continued with a positive trend.
