Fishing sector increased 17.57% in November of 2024

In November of 2024, the production of Fishing sector grew by 17.57% compared to the same month of the year 2023. According to the technical report Conjuncture Progress of Economic Activity, prepared by the National Institute of Statistics and Informatics (INEI), during eleven months of 2024, the mentioned sector accumulated a progress of 19.36%.
The result of November was based in the landing of species of maritime origin (18.81%), before the greater capture of resources intended to indirect human consumption (anchovy for fishmeal and fish-oil), that went from 754,709 tons in November 2023, to 1 067 654 in November of 2024, registering an increase of 41.47%, explained by the beginning of the second season of fishing of anchovy, which landing was mainly registered in the ports of Chimbote, Malabrigo, Coishco and Pisco.
On the other hand, the extraction for direct human consumption decreased by 24.93%, in its four destinations: preparation for canning (-34.7%), frozen (-33.8%), preparation for curing (-32.8%) and for consumption in fresh state (-12.9%).
Likewise, the fishing of continental origin contracted 3.87%, as a result of the lower extraction of species for curing (-80.0%); nevertheless, the landing of species for consumption in fresh state (6.6%) and frozen (21.5%) grew.
Electricity subsector increased by 4.37%
During the month under analysis, the generation of electricity grew by 4.37% driven by the generation of renewable energy (Eolic and solar) in 21.39% and of hydroelectric origin energy in 8.64%. On the other hand, the energy production of thermoelectric origin decreased by 2.56%.
According to companies, it outstood with greater production the following companies: Energía Renovable del Sur, Empresa de Generación Huallaga, La Virgen, Fénix Power Perú, Orygen Perú, Inland Energy, Egemsa, Electroperú, San Gabán, Empresa de Generación Junín and Kallpa Generación;meanwhile it showed a ontractive result the following companies: Orazul Energy Perú, Termochilca, Chinango, Statkraft Perú, Engie, Egasa and Celepsa.
Mining and Hydrocarbons sector decreased in 2.19%
The INEI informed that the production of the Mining and Hydrocarbons sector reduced by 2.19% compared to November of 2023. This behavior was determined by the contraction of the metal-mining activity, in 3.96%. It was the case of copper (-4.6%), zinc (-8.9%), molybdenum (-8.2%), gold (-3.1%) and lead (-1.5%); meanwhile it increased the silver (12.1%), iron (10.3%) and tin (3.1%).
On the other hand, the hydrocarbons subsector increased by 11.12% due to the greater volume of exploitation of its three components, such as: crude oil (24.5%), natural gas (11.0%) and liquids of natural gas (3.7%).
Domestic cement consumption regstered an unfavourable performance
During November of 2024, the domestic cement consumption decreased by 0.52% compared to the same month of the year 2023. In this behaivor influenced the lower progres in the execution of private works and self-construction.
During the first 11 months of 2024, this indicator accumulated a progress of 0.22%.
Granting of mortgage loans continue the upward trend
Mortgage loans for housing totalized S/ 66,551 million, registering a growth of 5.11% compared to November of 2023.
On the other hand, it decreased the credits granted to big, medium and micro-enterprises, by totalizing S/ 212,130 million, showing a reduction of 0.73% compared to the same month of 2023.
Therefore, it reduced the consumption credits by 3.28%, by placing in S/ 71,560 million.
The INEI also informed that the placement of credit cards of multiple banking was of 6,275 thousand units, a lower figure in 1.49% compared to the same month of 2023.
Total amount imported grew by 19.31%
During the eleventh month of 2024, the total amount imported was of US$ 4,891 million, a higher figure in 19.31% compared to the value registered in November of 2023.
In this result influenced the imported amount of consumer goods, by increasing in US$ 1,100 million and growing by 19.65% compared to the value registered in the same month of the year 2023. Likewise, the import of raw materials and intermediate products increased by totalizing US$ 2,384 million, registering a progress of 22.28%. At the same time, the import of capital goods and construction materials totalized US$ 1,406 million, amount that meant an increase of 14.56% compared to the same month of the year 2023.
