In October of 2024 the traffic flow of vehicles at national level increased by 3,2%

The National Institute of Statistics and Informatics (INEI), informed that during the month of October of 2024, the National Rate of Vehicular flow the one that reports the movement of light-duty and heavy-duty units through the tollbooths of the country grew by 3.2% compared to the same month of 2023, likewise, in the last twelve months increased by 3.9%.
In the technical report Vehicular Flow by Tollbooths it observes that the result obtained during the month under analysis, was due to the greater movement of light-duty units (3.5%) and heavy-duty units (2.9%).
Traffic flow of light-duty vehicles increased by 3.5%
In October of 2024, the traffic flow of light-duty vehicles registered through the tollbooths of the country, increased by 3.5% compared to the same month of 2023. This behavior was associated to the great displacement of people across the country, to participate in the religious processions of the Lord of Miracles, linked to the long holiday due to the commemoration of the Combat of Angamos.
Likewise, it influenced the high attendance to the gastronomic fairs, such as the “Fair of Chancho al Palo Huaralino”, “Festival del Turrón y Dulces”, “Filo Criollo 2024” and “Perú Mucho Gusto” in the department of Lima. It is worth to mention that this events dynamize the activity of retail commerce, accommodation and restaurants; and also promote the tourism.
The tollbooths with greater traffic flow were: to the north, San Martín (Aguas Claras 10.9% and Pongo 9.6%), Piura (Loma Larga Baja 9.7%, Piura Sullana 4.9% and Chulucanas 3.9%), Lambayeque (Diversion Olmos 5.8%), La Libertad (Chicama 4.9% and Pacanguilla 4.3%) and Cajamarca (Pomahuaca-Pucará 4.8%).
In addition, in the center, increased in Lima (Serpentine of Pasamayo 19.1%, Fortaleza 7.0% and Corcona 0.1%) and Junín (Quiulla 9.6% and Casaracra 8.1%); and in the south, in Apurímac (Pichirhua 16.1%), Moquegua (Pampa Cuellar 11.0% and Ilo 2.1%), Ayacucho (Pampa Galera 10.4%), Arequipa (Matarani Concesión 5.0%), Ica (Jahuay Chincha 3.5% and Marcona 1.6%) and Puno (Santa Lucía 0.6%).
Traffic flow of heavy-duty vehicles increased in 2.9%
In October of 2024, the traffic flow of heavy-duty units reported through the tollbooths, registered a growth of 2.9% compared with the same month of 2023, based in the greater demand of this type of vehicles, influenced by the positive behavior of the Agriculture sectors favoured by the good weather conditions in some zones of the country; Manufacturing due to the production of consumer goods, intermediate goods and capital goods; Construction, due to the increase of the private investment and physical progress of public works; and the Wholesale Commerce, associated to the high sales of the household goods and heavy-duty machinery sector for the construction and agriculture sectors.
The tollbooths with high traffic flow of heavy-duty vehicles were: to the north, San Martín (Moyobamba 14.4%, Pongo 12.9% and Aguas Claras 3.0%), La Libertad (Viru 10.8%, Pacanguilla 9.8% and Chicama 8.9%), Cajamarca (Pomahuaca-Pucará 8.8%), Piura (Chulucanas 7.7% and Sullana 4.1%), Áncash (Huarmey 6.9%) and Lambayeque (Diversion Olmos 5.9%).
In addition, in the center, it increased in Lima (Serpentine of Pasamayo 10.2%, Fortaleza 7.9% and El Paraíso 5.1%) and Junín (Quiulla 4.2%); and in the south, Ica (Marcona 19.5% and Jahuay Chincha 10.7%), Ayacucho (Pampa Galera 18.1%), Apurímac (Pichirhua 15.5%) and Arequipa (Uchumayo-Concesión 1.3% and Matarani Concesión 0.3%).
Traffic flow of heavy-duty vehicles for loading of 3 to 7 axle increased in 2.2%
In October of 2024, the flow of heavy-duty vehicles for loading of 3 to 7 axle, increased in 2.2% compared to the same month of 2023, explained by the greater movement of heavy-duty vehicles, such as trailers, semi-trailers and heavy-duty for loading of 4 axle (3.2%), 5 axle (2.4%), 6 axle (4.0%) and 7 axle (23.0%); meanwhile, it reduced the traffic flow of 3 axle vehicles (-1.5%).
