Restaurants activity expanded by sixth month in a row

Restaurants activity (services of foods and beverages) registered a growth of 3.87% in October of 2024, as a result of the of the positive evolution of the restaurants group, beverage service, other activities of service of foods and supplying of foods by request (catering).

The figure of October was the sixth consecutive increase of the sector, that accumulated an expansion of 3.26% since January to the tenth month of 2024.

Restaurants group registered a growth of 3.92%, driven by restaurants business, Pollerias (Grilled chicken restaurants), fast foods, touristic restaurants, Cevicherías (seafood restaurants), meats and grills, international food, coffee restaurants, which were favoured by the subscription to agreements with companies, advertising in massive communication media, opening of modules in shopping centers, perform of gastronomic fairs such as the “Fair Chancho al Palo Huaralino 2024” in Huaral, the “Festival del Turrón y Dulces”, the “Filo Criollo 2024” and “Perú Mucho Gusto” in Lima. To these fairs added the touristic activity in the occasion of the long holiday registered during October.

In addition, it was registered greater activity the establishments of Sandwich restaurants, ice-cream shops and pizza restaurants, due to promotions, menu online, innovation of menus and extension of facilities. During the month under analysis, there were different celebrations, such as the International Coffee Day, Guinea Pig National Day, Anticucho Day, Manchapecho Day, National Day of Chancho al Palo and Cacao Day and Peruvian Chocolate.

Beverages service of increased by 6.15%, determined by the greater activity in bar restaurants, coffee shops, discos, bars, as a result of the extension of dance floors, VIP zones and boxes, promotions of beverages, consumption coupons, free passes and free drink. Also driven this activity the celebrations of Oktoberfest 2024, Day of Creole Music and Halloween.

Other activities of food service grew 2.27%, due to the dynamism of concessionaires of foods with greater service orders, opening of facilities and renovation of contracts with financial manufacturing, electric, cement companies, educational centers, universities, ministries and clubs. In addition, the supply of foods for contractor (services of food to transportation companies) increased due to greater mobility and Flow of national and foreign tourist, before the festivities, promotions and discounts in touristic packages.

Supply of foods by request (catering) increased by 27.22%, due to greater request of services of preparation and distribution of foods for public and private events, in the attention of buffets, executive breakfasts, gourmet tables and corporative brunches for conferences and conventions.
