Employed population of Lima Metropolitan area grew 5.2% between September and November of 2024

During the mobile quarter September-October-November of 2024, the employed population of Lima Metropolitan area reached 5 million 564 thousand 200 persons, increasing in 5.2% (272 thousand 800 persons), compared to the same quarter of the year 2023.
The National Institute of Statistics and Informatics (INEI), in the technical report Situation of Labor Market in Lima Metropolitan area prepared with the results of the Permanent Survey of National Employment (EPEN), also stated that the male employed population was higher in 6.1% (173 thousand 200) and the female in 4.1% (99 thousand 700).
It is worth to mention that from the total of the employed population of Lima Metropolitan area, 54.1% (3 million 10 thousand 800) are men and 45.9% (2 million 553 thousand 400), women.
The employed population of 45 years of age and older increased by 9.9%
The employed population of 45 years of age and older increased by 9.9% (195 thousand 800) and the age group of 25 to 44 years of age, in 4.0% (104 thousand 500). Nevertheless, the employment between the population under 25 years of age reduced in 3.9% (27 thousand 300 persons less).
The employed population with secondary education grew in 9.8%
During the quarter under analysis, the employed population increased by 9.8% (219 thousand 400) among those with secondary education and by 5.1% (77 thousand 700) among those that have university superior education level.
Nevertheless, the employment decreased by 0.8% (9 thousand persons less) the population with non-university superior education level and by 4.1% (15 thousand 200 persons less) among those that studied primary education level.
Manufacturing and Construction led the creation of employment
The employed population increased in all economic sectors, among those that have been highlighted the Manufacturing and Construction sectors, in 23,1% (146 thousand 400) and in 18.5% (68 thousand), respectively. In lower proportion grew the employment in Commerce, 2.5% (30 thousand 400) and in Services, 1.0% (30 thousand 200).
Unemployment rate was of 5.7%
The INEI informed that the unemployment rate in Lima Metropolitan area placed in 5.7% and it is estimated that 334 thousand 300 persons seek employment actively. In addition, it was mentioned that from the total of the unemployed population, 54.7% (182 thousand 900) are women and 45.3% (151 thousand 400) are men.
Population with suitable employment increased by 11.9%
By comparing the mobile quarter September-October-November 2024, with the same mobile quarter of 2023, the population with suitable employment reported a growth of 11.9% (365 thousand 700); meanwhile, the underemployed population reduced by 4.2% (92 thousand 900 persons less).

The average monthly income coming from work of the main activity increased by 7.9%
During the quarter September-October-November 2024, the average monthly income coming from work of the main activity in Lima Metropolitan area placed in 2,066.90 Soles, figure that, compared to the same quarter of the last year, registered an increase of 7.9% (150.70 Soles more).
The average monthly income increased in all age groups
The INEI also informed that the average monthly income coming from work of the main activity increased by 8.2% (164.40 Soles) in the group of 45 years old and older, in 6.9% (140.90 Soles) among those that are between 25 to 44 years old and in the employed ones of 14 to 24 years old in 4.4% (50.20 Soles).
The average monthly income of the population with secondary education increased by 10.5%
The average monthly income grew by 10.5% (146.20 Soles) among those that have secondary education level, in 8.5% (91.00 Soles) in the population with primary or lower education level, in 7.0% (210.50 Soles) among the employees with university superior education level and in 6.5% (113.50 Soles) in the group that reached non-university superior education level.
The average monthly income increased by 9.7% in Services sector
The average monthly income coming from work grew in 9.7% (195.90 Soles) among those employed that perform activities in Services sector, in Commerce sector increased in 8.2% (124.60 Soles) and in Construction in 1.1% (23.80 Soles); meanwhile in Manufacturing decreased in 0.3% (5.0 Soles less).
