In Peru were created more than 70 thousand companies between July and September of 2024

During the third quarter of 2024, the number of companies registered in the Central Directory of Companies and Establishments was of 3 million 409 thousand 102 companies, figure that mean tan increase of 6.0% compared with the same quarter of the year 2023; this was informed by the National Institute of Statistics and Informatics (INEI) in the Technical Report Business Demography in Peru, being its main source the Taxpayer’s Register of the National Superintendency of Customs and Tax Administration (SUNAT).
Likewise, the INEI informed that there were created or reactivated (lock-in) 78 thousand 622 companies between July and September, meanwhile, 87 thousand 297 companies conclude their activities, registering a negative net rate of 0.25%.
Creation of companies increased in 3.8%
The INEI informed that during the quarter under study, the lock-in of companies increased in 3.8% compared to the same period of the last year. This behavior was reflected in the majority of economic activities, outstanding: Exploitation of mines and quarries (54.9%), beauty parlors (15.3%) and real estate activities (8.0%).
39.7% of the lock-outs were concentrated in activities of Commerce
According to economic activity, the greater percentage of companies closed were registered in activities of Commerce and repair of automotive vehicles and motorcycles (-39.7%), followed by Other services (-16.6%), manufacturing industries (-9.8%) and Transportation and storage (-9.1%).
In Lima Metropolitan area were created 27 thousand 783 companies
During the third quarter of 2024, in Lima Metropolitan area were created 27 thousand 783 companies, a figure that represented the 35.3% of the total.
Likewise, 35 thousand 341 companies in Lima Metropolitan area were lock-out in their activities, which represented the 40.5% of the total of companies.
Natural persons with business represented the 63.3% of the total of companies created during the third quarter of 2024
According to legal organization, natural persons with business represented the 63.3% of the total of companies created, followed by those established as anonymous society (15.4%) and those that started operation under the modality of individual company of limited responsibility (12.4%), among the most significant.
50.7% of natural persons with business were dedicated to activities of Commerce
During the period under analysis, were registered 49 thousand 783 business of natural persons, where the 50.7% of entrepreneurs were mainly dedicated to Commerce and repair of automotive vehicles and motorcycles followed by Other services (12.6%) and Activities of service of foods and beverages (12.5%).
In Peru 12 thousand 81 companies were established as anonymous society
According to economic activity, from the 12 thousand 81 companies established as anonymous society, 32.1% were dedicated to activities of Commerce and repair of automotive vehicles and motorcycles, 18.9% service provided to companies and 14.3% to Other services, among the main ones.
During the third quarter, 51.2% of companies created by natural persons were conducted by women
In Peru, the total companies lock-in by natural persons, 25 thousand 465 companies were managed by women, representing the 51.2% of the total; which evidenced a greater participation of women in the conduction of this type of entrepreneurships.
Women led the management of companies created by natural persons in 16 departments
In 16 departments of Peru were registered a greater participation of women that manage companies registered by natural persons. Those were the cases of the departments of Moquegua (58.5%), Madre de Dios (56.7%), Cusco (56.4%), Tacna (56.3%), Loreto (55.5%), Junín (55.2%), Ica (54.7%), Tumbes and Arequipa (54.0% each one), Piura (52.6%), Ancash (51.9%), Puno (51.6%) and Lambayeque (51.1%), among the main ones.
According to economic activity, there was a greater female representation in beauty parlors (72.7%), with greater concentration in Lima Metropolitan area, Arequipa and La Libertad. Followed by Activities of attention to human health (64.6%), Activities of services of foods and beverages (63.9%), Retail Commerce (59.5%), Activities of accommodation (56.2%) and Wholesale commerce (55.7%), among the most relevant.
80.5% of Construction companies created by natural persons were managed by men
According to economic activity, men registered a greater percentage in the management of entrepreneurships of productive units related to Construction activity (80.5%); mainly in the departments of Lima, Piura and La Libertad. Followed by the Exploitation of mines and quarries (78.8%), Transportation and storage (77.1%), Information and communications (74.1%), Sale and Repair of vehicles (72.2%), Agriculture, livestock, silviculture and fishing (62.8%), and Other activities of services (60.2%), among the most outstanding.
