It increases the population of 14 to 17 years of age that only dedicates to study

During the quarter July- August-September of 2024, 75.6% of the adolescent population of 14 to 17 years of age just dedicated to study and registered an increase of 6.0 percentage points, compared to the same period of the year 2023 (69.6%).
The National Institute of Statistics and Informatics (INEI) in the technical report State of the Childhood and Adolescence, prepared with the results of the National Household Survey (ENAHO) also stated that 12.3% of this population group studied and helped in some activity, registering a reduction of 4.8 percentage points compared to the same quarter of the year 2023.
In addition, it was informed that 8.1% of this age group does not study or work and 3.9% just study, registering decreasing of 0.9 and 0.4 percentage points, respectively.
By residence area, the most outstanding increases were registering among the adolescent population of the urban area that just study by going from 74.3% to 81.4% (7.1 percentage points); meanwhile, in the rural area this population increased from 53.8% to 56.2% (2.4 percentage points).
The school attendance rate of the population of 3 to 5 years of age reached 92.0%
During the third quarter of 2024, the school attendance rate of the population of 3 to 5 years of age reached 92.0% and registered a growth of 0.5 percentage point compared to the same quarter of the year 2023.
By residence area, the greater percentage growth was registered in the rural area by going from 92.5% to 93.9% (1.4 percentage points), compared to the third quarter of 2023. The urban area registered a lower progress by going from 91.2% to 91.5% (0.3 percentage point).
School attendance of girls and boys of 6 to 11 years of age reached 98.6%
The INEI informed that the attendance rate of girls and boys of 6 to 11 years of age in primary education level was of 98.6%, which meant an increase of 1.5 percentage points, compared to the third quarter of the year 2023 (97.1%).
In the urban area, the school attendance to primary education level reached 98.5% and in the rural area reached 99.1%, with an increase of 1.7 percentage points and 1.2 percentage points, respectively.
The school attendance rate of the population of 12 to 16 years of age to a secondary education level was of 87.3%
During the third quarter of 2024, 87.3% of the population of 12 to 16 years of age attended to secondary education level, a higher figure in 1.0 percentage points to the registered in the same period of 2023.
By residence area, 87.7% of the adolescent population of the urban area attended to some year of secondary education level and in the rural area the attendance reached 85.8%, with increases of 0.5 and 2.4 percentage points respectively, compared to the third quarter of the year 2023.
It increases the population of 6 to 17 years of age that had access to the Internet through a cellphone
During the period of July-August-September, 90.0% of the population of 6 to 17 years of age accessed to the Internet through a cellphone, this means an increase of 4.0 percentage points compared to the third quarter of 2023. Likewise, 30.2% used the Internet in the household and 9.7% had access to the Internet in educational establishments.
Access of the population under 18 years of age to some health insurance went from 93.6% to 95.1%
During the quarter under analysis, 95.1% of the population under 18 years of age of the country had Access to some health insurance, a higher proportion higher in 1.5 percentage points, compared to the same quarter of the year 2023 (93.6%). From this total, 70.8% just accessed to the Comprehensive Health Insurance (SIS) and 21.6% accessed to the Social Health Insurance (EsSalud).
In the rural area, 97.0% of the population with some health insurance, the greater coverage was of the SIS with 91.6%. In the urban area, 94.5% of the population with health insurance, 64.8% stated to be affiliated just to the SIS and 26.4% were affiliated just to EsSalud.
17.7% of the population under 18 years of age stated that they suffer some health problem or chronic discomfort
During the quarter under study, 17.7% of the population under 18 years of age stated to have some health problem or chronic discomfort and by comparing this result with the same quarter of the year 2023, it was observed an increase of 0.1 percentage point.
The greater incidence of the population under 18 years of age with some health problem or chronic discomfort was registered in the urban area (20.4%), compared to the rural area (8.2%).
From the population under 18 years of age that informed to suffer some health problem or chronic discomfort, 68.0% sought medical attention
During the quarter under analysis, from the population under 18 years of age that informed they suffer some health problem or chronic disease, 68.0% sought medical attention in some health facility.
Below, the facilities that the population of this population group attended: 24.6% attended a health facility of the Ministry of Health (MINSA) and 21.6% to a pharmacy. Meanwhile, the 32.0% did not seek medical attention.
In the case of men, 23.3% attended in the MINSA facilities and 5.6% in private health facilities. Regarding women, 26.1% they attended the MINSA facilities and 12.5% in private health facilities.
48.6% of the households of the country has among their member at least one person under 18 years of age
The results of the National Household Survey (ENAHO) revealed that 48.6% of the households of the country have among their members at least one person under 18 years of age. According to residence area, 48.7% of this population lives in the urban area and 48.1% lives in the rural area.
