Domestic cement consumption grew 3.01% in October of 2024

During October of 2024, the domestic cement consumption increased in 3.01% compared to the same month of the last year. The figure of October is the third highest growth rate so far this year.
In the technical report Conjuncture Progress of Economic Activity, prepared by the National Institute of Statistics and Informatics (INEI), also informed that this result was based in the execution of works of the private sector.
The production of electricity subsector increased in 2.68%
The INEI informed that the electricity subsector increased in 2.68% in October of 2024, driven by the generation of origin of renewable, Eolic and solar energies (44.29%). Meanwhile, the generation of hydroelectric (-0.93%) and thermoelectric (-0,13%) origin energy registered an unfavorable behavior.
Bellow, the companies that outstood by its production during the month under study: Empresa de Generación Huanza S.A., San Gabán S.A., Empresa de Generación Huallaga S.A., Celepsa, Termochilca S.A.C., Orygen Perú S.A.A. (before Enel Generación Perú), Electroperú S.A., Egemsa, Inland Energy S.A.C., Kallpa Generación S.A., Egasa and Engie Energía Perú S.A.
Fishing sector decreased 48.50%
During the month of October of 2024, the Fishing sector reduced in 48.50% explained by the lower capture of species of maritime origin (-50.94%), among those are the landing intended to the direct (-24.82%) and indirect (-98.82%) human consumption.
In the first group, it was affected the fishing of species for frozen (-42.7%), preparation of cured (-16.2%) and for the consumption in fresh state (-7.6%). Meanwhile that the extraction for canning (17.2%) increased. In the sector of fishing for indirect human consumption, the capture of anchovy intended to the preparation of fishmeal and fish oil reached 2,754 tons in October of 2024 that compared with the level registered in October of 2023 (234,064 tons), showed a reduction of 231,310 tons.
On the other hand, fishing of continental origin contracted 28.12%, explained by the lower extraction of species in fresh state (-31.32%), preparation of curing (-54.40%) and for frozen (-10.97%).
The production of Mining and Hydrocarbons sector decreased in 2.18%
The Mining and Hydrocarbons sector decreased 2.18%, in October of 2024 compared to the same month of 2023. Therefore, the metal-mining subsector reduced in 1.92% associated to the lower volume of zinc (-19.8%), copper (-1.0%), gold (-4.5%) and tin (-9.1%) production; trend that was partially counterbalanced by the growth of molybdenum (7.8%), silver (10.0%), iron (12.5%) and lead (2.5%) production.
On the other hand, the hydrocarbons subsector reduced in 3.93% by the lower volume of exploitation of liquids of natural gas (-6.5%) and natural gas (-4.3%); nevertheless, the production of crude oil increased in 1.5%.
General Government Investment Expenditure grew in 6.61%
During the tenth month of the year 2024, the General Government Investment Expenditure grew in 6.61% (S/ 5,392 million) compared to the same month of the last year, by the increase of the investment in construction works (National and Regional Governments). Till October, the mentioned indicator registered ten months of positive behavior.
In addition, the Consumption Expenditure of the General Government totalized S/ 11,043 million, in nominal terms, and meant an increase of 1,71% compared with the same month of the last year.
Growing trend kept the mortgage loans for housing
In October of 2024, the mortgage loans totalized S/ 65,406 million, a higher amount in 3.66% compared to October of 2023.
On the other hand, the credits granted to big, medium, small and micro-enterprises corporations, totalized S/ 210,792 million, decreased in 2.40% compared to the same month of 2023. Likewise, consumption credits placed in S/ 70,159 million, a lower figure in 5.28% compared to October of the last year.
On the other hand, the placement of credit cards of multiple banking was of 6,251 thousand units, reducing in 3.22% compared to the same month of 2023.
Total imports grew in 3.68%
During the month under study, the total amount imported was of US$ 5,074 million, a higher rate in 3.68% compared to the value registered in October 2023.
This result was based in the amount imported of consumption goods, by totalizing US$ 1,170 million, a higher figure in 14.17%, compared to the value registered in the same month of 2023. The import of the import of capital goods and construction materials totalized US$ 1,527 million and showed an increase of 12.16% compared to October of the last year. On the other hand, the import of raw materials and intermediate products totalized US$ 2,374 million, decreasing in 5.16%, compared to the value obtained in October of 2023.
