Three departments concentrated the 57.6% of the total production of hard yellow corn in September of 2024

The production of hard yellow corn in September of 2024 totallized 119 thousand 677 tons, and registered an expansion of 35.0% compared to the same month of the last year (88 thousand 682 tons). There were registered greater volumes in La Libertad (632.7%), Áncash (34.0%) and Loreto (1.4%); contributed together with the 57.6% of the national total.


The National Institute of Statistics and Informatics (INEI), in the Technical Report Peru: Economic Outlook by Departments, mentioned that the mentioned result was due to the increase of crops were influenced by the appropiate thermal conditions that favoured the development of this crop, oriented both to the domestic market as well as the agroindustry.

Likewise, the following departments registered a positive behavior, Madre de Dios (770.0%), Tumbes (159.7%), Piura (144.3%), Huánuco (43.2%), Pasco (39.5%), Junín (22.4%) and Cajamarca (9.7%). Meanwhile, it dcreased in the followed departments Amazonas (-90.0%), Arequipa (-84.6%), San Martín (-71.8%), Huancavelica (-67.2%) and Cusco (-48.3%), among others.


Production of avocado was led by the departments of Ica and Lima
The INEI informed that, in the ninth month of this year, the departments of Ica (37.5%) and Lima (20.6%), contributed with the 52.0% of the national total. In adittion, it showed favorable performance of the regions of Lambayeque (381.9%), Piura (280.6%), Moquegua (96.7%), Áncash (20.0%), Junín (2.6%) and Loreto (2.1%).


On the other hand, the avocado production contracted in Arequipa (-98.8%), Apurímac (-92.8%), Huancavelica (-80.7%), Pasco (-60.5%), Cajamarca (-48.7%) and Ayacucho (-43.3%), among others.


Across the country, the avocado production reached 31 thousand 734 tons, a higher level in 8.4% than the reported in the same month of the last year, supported by the greater surfaces harvested by the good weather conditions, which allowed to have better results in the flowering and fruiting stages.


88.8% of the poultry production concentrated in Lima, Arequipa, Ica and La Libertad
The levels produced of poultry outstood in the departments of Lima (4.3%), Arequipa (2.0%), Ica (1.8%) and La Libertad (0.7%), which registered a participation of 88.0% of the national total. Likewise, it increased in Piura (4.1%) and San Martín (3.2%). Meanwhile, it was affected in Madre de Dios (-5.5%), Tumbes (-4.9%), Moquegua (-4.4%), Amazonas (-3.9%) and Apurímac (-3.1%), among others.


The poultry production of the country increased in 2.8% compared to the same month of the last year, determined by the higher production of chickens, reflected in the greater placement of BB chickens of the meat line.

Moquegua, Ica, Arequipa and Áncash contributed with the 53.1% of the total copper production
The INEI informed that in September of 2024, the copper production slightly decreased in 0.4% compared to the same month of the last year, due to the lower volumes obtained in the companies Anglo American Quellaveco, Cerro Verde, Antamina, Marcobre and in Hudbay Perú.


The extraction of this mineral, decreased in the main producer departments such as Moquegua (-14.8%), Ica (-9.5%), Arequipa (-8.6%) and Áncash (-6.3%); nevertheless, contributed with the 53.1% of the national total. In adittion, the cooper production was affected in the following departments Ayacucho (-25.3%), Huánuco (-18.3%), Cajamarca (-9.9%), Puno (-3.5%) and Lima (-0.3%).


On the other hand, it grew in Huancavelica (31.9%), Apurímac (23.9%), Tacna (18.4%), Junín (15.3%), Pasco (5.6%) and Cusco (0.3%).


Likewise, it is important to mention that it expanded the molybdenum production (34.7%) in regiones of Áncash (94.5%), Junín (92.7%), Apurímac (44.8%), Tacna (38.2%), Moquegua (18.5%) and Arequipa (16.0%). Similarly, the silver extraction (14.7%) stood out due to the greater levels of production in Lima (212.2%), Apurímac (110.7%), Tacna (27.3%), Arequipa (14.3%), Moquegua (13.2%) and Cusco (8.9%). In adittion it increased the tin production (7.8%) in Puno, sole producer department.


Five departments led the increase of the production of electric energy.
The production of electric energy was higher in Áncash (55.3%), Ica (52.3%), Huancavelica (22.0%), Cusco (21.0%) and Junín (10.0%), mainly. Meanwhile, it reduced in Moquegua (-41.0%), Ucayali (-37.0%), Arequipa (-30.5%) and Ayacucho (-28.4%), among others.


At national level, the production of electric energy increased in 1.6%, driven by the greater generation of hydroelectric energy in the powerstations of Mantaro, Huallaga, Cerro del Águila and Malpaso, basically. At the same time, the renewable energy generation (Eolic and solar).


On the other hand, the generation of thermic energy decreased in the powerstations of Ventanilla, Chilca 1, Chilca 2, Talara and Aguaytía.


Four departments concentrated the 92.7% of revenues collected by internal taxes
During the ninth month of this year, the revenues collected by internal taxes grew in 19 departments, among those that outstood four regions, being Lima (11.9%) by registering the greater amount collected, followed by Ica (24.7%), Arequipa (16.8%) and La Libertad (2.1%); representing together the 92.7% of the total collected at national level.


Likewise, it showed a positive result the following departments Apurímac (50.4%), Madre de Dios (35.8%), Tacna (29.1%), Amazonas (28.3%), San Martín (18.4%), Huánuco (16.7%), Ucayali (15.9%) and Ayacucho (14.6%), among others. On the other hand, it contracted in Áncash (-27.0%), Piura (-23.2%), Lambayeque (-3.9%), Cajamarca (-2.0%) and Tumbes (-1.5%).


Across the country, the revenues collected by internal taxes totalized 10 thousand 528 million 798 thousand Soles and showed a growth of 10.9% compared to September of 2023, explained by the increase of payments performed in the income tax rubros del impuesto a la renta y el impuesto general a las ventas.
