Traffic flow of vehicles at national level increased by 3.5% in September of 2024

The National Institute of Statistics and Informatics (INEI), informed that during the month of September of 2024, the National Rate of Vehicular Flow the one that reports the movement of light-duty and heavy-duty units through the tollbooths of the country increased in 3.5% compared to the same month of 2023, and in the last twelve months increased in 3.7%.


In the technical report Vehicular Flow by Tollbooths indicates that the monthly result was reflected in the greater traffic flow of light-duty (4.6%) and heavy-duty (2.1%) vehicles.


Traffic flow of light-duty vehicles grew in 4.6%
In September of 2024, the traffic flow of light-duty vehicles registered through the tollbooths of the country was higher in 4.6% compared to the same month of 2023. This behavior was driven by the events performed in different regions of the country, such as festivals, shows and gastronomic fairs in the occasion of the beginning of spring.


The tollbooths with greater traffic flow were: to the north, San Martín (Pongo 8.9% and Aguas Claras 8.4%), Piura (Loma Larga Baja 8.8%, Chulucanas 4.9% and Piura Sullana 4.3%), La Libertad (Chicama 3.7% and Pacanguilla 0.4%), Áncash (Huarmey 0.9%), Cajamarca (Pomahuaca-Pucara 0.7%) and Lambayeque (Diversion Olmos 0.5%).


In the center, in Junín (Quiulla 13.9% and Casaracra 11.5%) and Lima (Fortaleza 7.5%, Corcona 3.4% and Variant of Pasamayo 0.5%); and in the south, Apurímac (Pichirhua 15.1%), Arequipa (Matarani Concesión 10.6% and Uchumayo-Concesión 1.9%), Moquegua (Pampa Cuéllar 9.8% and Ilo 5.2%), Ica (Jahuay Chincha 9.3% and Marcona 2.8%) and Ayacucho (Pampa Galera 6.6%).


Traffic flow of heavy-duty vehicles increased in 2.1%
In September of 2024, the traffic flow of heavy-duty vehicles registered through the tollbooths increased in 2.1% compared to the same month of 2023, explained by the increase of the demand of service of land cargo hauling associated to the growth of Commerce sectors, linked to wholesale trade; and Manufacturing, based in the superior production of consumption goods and capital goods.


In addition, the Construction sector, the physical progress of public works in the National and Regional Government area; Mining, reflected in the high volumes extracted of molybdenum, silver and tin; and Agricultural, determined by the positive performance of agriculture and livestock subsector.


The tollbooths with high traffic flow were: to the north, Piura (Chulucanas 11.1% and Piura Sullana 5.9%), Cajamarca (Pomahuaca-Pucará 9.5%), Lambayeque (Diversion Olmos 8.7%), San Martín (Aguas Claras 7.7%, Pongo 1.6% and Moyobamba 0.8%), La Libertad (Virú 4.4%, Chicama 4.1% and Pacanguilla 1.4%) and Áncash (Huarmey 0.8%).


In the center, Lima (Variant of Pasamayo 5.6%, Serpentine of Pasamayo 4.0%, El Paraíso 3.5% and Fortaleza 2.0%) and Junín (Quiulla 3.4%); and in the south, Ica (Marcona 21.7% and Jahuay Chincha 11.2%), Apurímac (Pichirhua 17.4%), Ayacucho (Pampa Galera 15.9%), Arequipa (Matarani Concesión 11.3% and Uchumayo-Concesión 0.5%) and Moquegua (Pampa Cuéllar 2.4% and Ilo 0.3%).


Traffic flow of heavy-duty vehicles for loading of 3 to 7 axle increased in 2.0%
In September of 2024, the traffic flow of heavy-duty vehicles for loading of 3 to 7 axle grew in 2.0% compared to the same month of 2023, due to the increase of traffic flow of heavy-duty vehicles, such as trailers, semi-trailers and heavy-duty vehicles for loading of 3 axle (1.4%), 4 axle (1.6%), 5 axle (4.0%), 6 axle (1.5%) and 7 axle (32.8%).
