National production grew 3.16% in September of 2024

The national production increased by 3.16% in September of 2024, explained by the positive evolution of 13 economic sectors, among them they outstood other services; Commerce; Transportation; Storage and Courier; Manufacturing; Services Provided to Companies and Telecommunications. Meanwhilem the activity in Fishing decreased.


In the technical report of National Production, prepared by the National Institute of Statistics and Informatics (INEI), informed that among the months of January and September of 2024, the economic activity of the country added a growth of 2.98% and during the annualized period (October 2023-September 2024) registered a variation of 2.12%.


The production of Agricultural sector increased by 1.10%
The agro-livestock sector grew 1.10% due to the result of agricultural subsector (0.38%), before the greater volumes obtained of mangoes (148.4%), strawberries (114.9%), lemon (39.3%), hard yellow corn (35.0%), banana (11.8%), avocado (8.4%) and mandarina (6.3%). This behavior was supported in the greater surface sown.


Likewise, the livestock subsector showed a progress of 2.09% by the increase of the pig (3.0%), poultry (2.8%), fresh milk (1.8%) and beef (1.2%).


Fishing sector registered an unfavorable behavior by decreasing in 14.63%
The fishing sector reduced in 14.63% explained by the lower extraction of species of maritime (-12.19%) and continental (-28.78%) origin.


The negative performance of direct human consumption (-12.26%) is explained by the lower capture of species for preparation of caning (-58.3%), preparation of curing (-40.6%), consumption in fresh state (-12.2%) and for frozen (-4.7%). Meanwhile, the extraction of the resource intended for indirect human consumption (anchovy for fishmeal and fish oil) went from 436 tons in September 2023 to 642 tons in September 2024, increasing in 47.16%. This capture corresponded to the south zone of the coastline, characterized by the lower availability of this hydrological resource.


On the other hand, the fishing of continental origin contracted 28.78% due to the lower fishing of species for consumption in fresh state (-31.90%), preparation of curing (-72.97%) and for frozen (-5.22%).


The production of Mining and Hydrocarbons sector increased in 1.06%
During September of 2024, the Mining and Hydrocarbons sector grew in 1.06%, due to the positive performance of the metal mining activity in 1.73%, based in the greater volume of molybdenum (34.7%), silver (14.7%) and tin (7.8%) production. On the other hand, the hydrocarbons subsector decreased in 3.26% due to the lower volume of exploitation of liquids of natural gas (-4.2%) and of natural gas (-4.8%).

Manufacturing sector increased in 2.68%
During the ninth month of the year 2024, the Manufacturing sector grew in 2.68%, according to figures of the Ministry of Production (PRODUCE), determined by the favorable result of the non-primary manufacturing subsector (4.24%); which was attenuated by the decrease of the primary manufacturing subsector (-2.42%). The result of the non-primary manufacturing subsector was explained by the increase in the production of the industry of consumption goods (7.88%) and capital goods (20.28%); meanwhile, that the industry of intermediate goods reduced in 1.08%.


The contraction of the primary manufacturing subsector was explained by the lower activity in the branch of preparation and preservation of fish, crustaceans and molluscs (-29.8%) and of manufacture of products of oil refining (-7.7%). Nevertheless, the manufacture of primary products of precious metals and other non-ferrous metals (1.7%), the preparation and preservation of meat (3.7%), as well as the production in the preparation of sugar (0.4%).


The Electricity, Gas and Water sector increased in 1.41%
The Electricity, Gas and Water increased 1.41%, driven by the generation of electrical (1.57%) and water (1.70%) energy. Meanwhile, the gas distribution decreased (-6.77%). In the result of electricity subsector, contributed to the greater generation of hydroelectric energy (22.5%) and non-conventional renewable energy (45.6%). Nevertheless, the generation of thermoelectric origin energy decreased (-14.1%).


A greater dynamism in the water production was mainly registered in the following companies: EPSEL (3.6%), Sedalib (2.8%) and Sedapar (1.3%). Conversely, the production of companies such as Sedapal (-0.9%) and EPS Grau (-2.9%) reduced. On the other hand, the distribution of the gas distribution was explained before the lower demand of Electric Generators (-9.2%) and of the Companies (-20.5%). On the other hand, the requirement of retailing establishments of Vehicular Natural Gas (10.4%).


Construction sector grew in 2.89% due to the dynamism in the execution of public works
Construction sector increased in 2.89%, associated to the physical progress of public works (10.88%). On the other hand, the domestic cement consumption (-0.05%) decreased. The increase of physical progress of public works registered in the National and Regional area. According to type of work, the works of prevention of risks, road infrastructure, basic services and construction of non-residential buildings, increased.


The lower domestic cement consumption was reflected in the slow progress of construction projects of the private sector, such as civil engineering in projects of mining, hydrocarbons, telecommunications and industry projects, among the main ones.


The production of Commerce sector increased in 3.45%
The Commerce sector registered a growth of 3.45%, influenced by the increase of 3.41% in the wholesale of nutritional products, equipment of electronic security; besides, of bio-chemical products and pharmaceutical products of veterinarian use. In addition, the sale of fuels and lubricants increased; as well as household goods, of heavy machinery, and equipment and electrical and medical tools.


The retail sale grew in 3.67% due to the greatest rotation of agro-veterinarian products, optical, pharmaceutical and medicine security articles, in addition the increase in sales in supermarkets and minimarkets. Besides, the automotive commerce grew 2.74% before the demand of vehicles (light and heavy-duty), and their services of maintenance and repair, due to the dynamism of different sectors.


Furthermore, the sale, the maintenance and the repair of motorcycles and its parts, pieces and accessories. In addition, the sales, maintenance and repair of motorcycles and its parts, pieces and accessories increased.


Transportation, Storage and Courier Sector increased by 7.55%
During September of 2024, Transportation, Storage and Courier Sector increased in 7.55%, due to favorable result of transportation subsector (5.62%), and storage and courier subsector (13.65%).


In the behavior of transportation subsector influenced the transportation by road and pipping (2.88%), before the greater road movement of passengers (4.3%) and load (1.1%). In addition, the transportation by rail (14.6%) was invigorated by the increase of movements of passengers; on the other hand, the pipping transportation (-4.0%) decreased, due to the decrease in the hydrocarbon production. The air transport positively changed (15.59%) due to the greater movement of passengers and cargo, national and international. The transportation by waterways increased 4.34%, as a result of the greater cargo transportation by river and waterways.


The increase of storage and courier subsector was based by the greater services of storage and activities of support to the transportation (14.12%), as well as postal and courier services (7.28%).


The production of Accommodation and Restaurants sector increased in 4.45%
The Accommodation and Restaurants sector increased in 4.45% due to the dynamism of the restaurants subsector (4.47%) and accommodation subsector (4.22%). The result of restaurants subsector was based in the positive performance of the activities of restaurants (4.91%), services of food for companies of transportation and concessionaries (2.65%), service of beverages (4.11%) and supplying of foods ordered (5.23%).


The group of restaurants increased by the touristic restaurants, Cevicherías (seafood restaurants), restaurants, meats and grills, Pollerías (chicken grill restaurants), fast foods sectors, among others; in response of the strategies alliances with different companies of private sector, personalized attention and activities performed by the celebrations of the Kitchen Day and Peruvian Gastronomy and other gastronomic fairs.


Telecommunications and Other Services of Information Sector increased in 3.87%
The INEI informed that the telecommunications and other services of Information sector grew in 3.87%, influenced by the positive behavior of the telecommunications subsector (4.88%); nevertheless, the subsector other services of information contracted (-2.11%).


The behavior of telecommunication subsector was determined by the increase of Internet services and subscription television (7.2%), and other services of telephony (3.6%). On the other hand, the services of data transmission (-3.1%) decreased. Meanwhile, in the subsector other services of information decreased the activities of production and exhibition of films and television programs (-8.5%), edition (-4.1%) and television and radio programming (-3.2%); on the other hand, the activities of computer programming increased (1.4%).


Financial and Insurance sector increased in 0.46% during September of 2024
The financial and insurance sector showed a positive variation of 0.46%. This result was explained by the deposits of multiple banking that registered positive results in the sector of demand deposits (15.7%) and saving deposits (12.1%). On the other hand, the deposits by Compensation for Time of Service (-10.5%) and time deposits (-1.1%) decreased.


On the other hand, the variation of credits of multiple banking was of -3.01%. According to type of credit, the negative variation was influenced by the lower performance of consumption credits (-7.0%) and enterprise loans (-3.4%); reducing its fall, the increase of mortgage credits (3.1%). Among the main sectors that influenced in the contraction of credits were other activities of community services; manufacturing industry; real state, business and rental activities; agriculture, livestock, hunting and silviculture; construction; hotels and restaurants; and private households with domestic service and extraterritorial branches.


Services Provided to Companies Sector increased in 4.72%
The INEI also informed that the Services Provided to Companies Sector grew 4.72% due to the positive results of travel agencies and tour operators (41.6%), advertising and market research (6.0%), activities of administrative and support services to companies (3.4%), and professional, scientific and technical activities (3.1%).


Government Services increased in 4.14%
The Government Services grew 4.14% in response to the greater activities performed by the institutions of Public Administration (4.15%), Defense (4.16%) and Other Government Services (3.35%).


Other Services increased in 5.39%
The Other Services registered an increase of 5.39%, based mainly by the activities of personal services outstanding the artistic and entertainment activities (presentation of international and national groups; theater plays); gambling and betting activities; services of laundry; mortuaries activities repair of laptops and computers; services of professional and business associations; among other activities.
