INEI and OCDE are carrying out a workshop about the system of Statistical Data and Metadata eXchange

The National Institute of Statistics and Informatics (INEI) of Peru, in coordination with the Organization for the Organization for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD), receives the Technical Assistance Mission for the Implementation of SDMX Standard (Statistical Data and Metadata eXchange).


This event, has been carrying out since this November 5th, and should continue until Friday 8th of November, was hosted at the headquarters of the National School of Statistics and Informatics (ENEI).


The opening day included the participation of the Head of the INEI, Mr. Gaspar Morán Flores and of Julien Dupont, Head of the Unit for International Relations and Adhesion Coordinator, Statistics and Data Directorate of the OECD.


The mission answers to the need of strength the statistical data and metadata exchange between the INEI and the international organizations, allowing Peru to adopt a standard framework of data exchange with a view to the global of integration and its adhesion to the OECD.


The SDMX initiative, created in 2001 by leading institutions such as the Bank of International Settlements (BIS), the International Monetary Fund (IMF) and the OECD, stablishes standards and procedures for the efficient transmission of statistical data.


The SDMX implementation in the INEI searches not only to comply with the OECD guidelines, but also to facilitate the structural and technological upgrading in the collection, analysis and dissemination of statistical information in Peru.


During the mission, the OECD experts will provide theoretical -practical workshops oriented to employees of the Technical Office of Informatics (OTIN) and the organs of the line of the INEI statistical data producers.


The OECD Technical Mission represents an essential step for the internalization of statistical processes of Peru, with the aim of establishing a robust infrastructure of data that allow the full integration of the country in statistical data exchange networks with the mentioned international organism.
