The National Institute of Statistics and Informatics (INEI) receives the mission of the Organization for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) about Purchasing Power Parities (PPPs), meeting carried out in our headquarters in October 21th to 25th of 2024.

The event gathers experts of the international organism, representatives of the National Statistical System (SEN) and of the INEI, and where they present and analyze methodologies and surveys related with the national statistical system.

The mission of the OECD will evaluate if the official statistical production complies with standards and principles of their Recommendations about Good Practices in Statistics, and if they could be used to construct the indices of PPPs.

Likewise, the OECD delegation will offer technical assistance to Peru about the PPPs in order to calculate the indices, organize the indices, validating the surveys in a continuous way.

The INEI, together with a consultant of the OECD, will also stablish a schedule for the surveys and the possible publication of the results, according to the available resources.

The event started this Monday 21th of October with the presentation of the objectives of the mission by the head of the INEI, Dr. Gaspar Morán Flores. The presentation continued with the presentation of experts of the OECD, including Julien Dupont, Director of Statistics and Data of the international entity, and other specialists in the area.

It is worth to mention that is essential to review and improve the practices of the SEN to ensure that the official statistics are representatives, internationally comparable and are consistent with the National Accounts.
