Restaurants activity increased 7.54% in August of 2024

Restaurants activity (services of foods and beverages) increased 7.54% in August of 2024, as a result of the positive development of four big components, reaching the highest rate so far this year.

Among January and August of 2024, the subsector accumulated a progress of 3.01%.

Group of restaurants registered a progress of 8.53%, due to the dynamism of business of fast foods, pollerías (chicken grill), restaurants, touristic restaurants, sandwich restaurants, international food, meats and grills and Chifas (Chinese restaurants), in response to the conditioning of environments for events and banquets, discount vouchers and digital marketing campaigns.

In addition, positively influenced in the new national holyday of August 6th, the day that commemorates the Battle of Junín; the long holyday due to the celebration of the Day of Santa Rosa de Lima; and different gastronomic fairs such as: “Gochisō Gastronomic Festival” in Lima, "Trujillo, Tradition and Flavor APEC 2024", in Trujillo and “Piura con mucho gusto”, in Piura. Likewise, registered greater activity in the establishments of food of Arequipa, confectioners and pizza restaurants, driven by business partnerships, opening of locations and greater coverage of delivery service. In addition, favored the activity the Reunion of The Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) performed in the cities of Trujillo and Lima.

Beverage service registered in August 2024 with a variation of 9.97%, driven by the areas of bar restaurants, coffee shops, discos and bars, before greater sponsorships, promotions, varied list of snacks, flow of tourists, coupons of discounts in breakfasts, and the remodeling and enlargement of terraces. In addition, contributed the participation in fairs such as “Festival del Cafesazo Peruano” and “Expo Café Villa Rica 2024” performed in Lima on the occasion of the celebration of the Day of Peruvian Coffee.

Other activities of Foods Services increased in 1.87%, based in the greater activity of food concessionaires through the capturing and renovation of contracts with companies of mining, manufacturing, financial, telecommunications, clinics, hospitals, schools, universities, institutes and correctional facilities sectors. Likewise, supplying of foods for contractors (food services to transportation companies) grew due to the greater Flow of passengers in companies of air and land transportation, according with the long holiday due to the celebration of the Day of Santa Rosa de Lima.

Supplying of food (catering) expanded in 54.75%, explained by the increase in the service of preparation and distribution of foods for special events such as weddings, birthday parties, corporative meetings, lectures, conferences, trainings and anniversaries.
