The production of paddy rice grew in 13.4% concentrating San Martín and Piura 75.6% of the total production

The national production of paddy rice in July of 2024 registered 301 thousand 845 tons, higher volume in 13.4% to the obtained in the same month of the last year, explained by the greater crops and better performances obtain ed, favoured by the good thermal conditions that allowed the development of this cereal, destined to the domestic market.
The National Institute of Statistics and Informatics (INEI) in the Technical Report Peru: Economic Outlook by Departments, outstood the production registered in San Martín (33.0%) and Piura (24.5%), that together contributed with the 75.6% of the total produced. Likewise, it grew in Huánuco (60.4%), Tumbes (1.4%) and Loreto (0.6%).
Nevertheless, it decreased in Lambayeque (-80.5%), La Libertad (-62.6%), Ucayali (-33.4%), Cajamarca (-26.2%), Junín (-23.1%), Pasco (-14.6%), Madre de Dios (-9.5%) and Amazonas (-2.9%).
Coffee production increased in six departments
During the month under analysis, coffee production increased in the departments of Lambayeque (301.5%), San Martín (124.0%), Piura (13.1%), La Libertad (4.4%), Junín (3.2%) and Puno (2.1%). Nevertheless, it reduced in Ucayali (-76.2%), Huancavelica (-71.7%), Ayacucho (-60.8%), Pasco (-46.6%), Loreto (-14.3%), Amazonas (-8.4%), Huánuco (-4.0%), Cusco (-1.4%) and Cajamarca (-0.1%).
At national level, coffee production totalized 64 thousand 115 tons, increasing in 3.6%, compared to July of 2023. In this result influenced the suitable climatic conditions (normal to superior temperatures), that favoured the normal growth of this grain.
Four departments concentrated the 87.8% of the national poultry production
The INEI informed that the poultry production registered a positive behavior in the main producer departments, such as Lima (3.2%), Ica (1.8%), La Libertad (1.6%) and Arequipa (1.3%), that together contributed with the 87.8% of the national total. Likewise, it increased in San Martín (7.1%), Lambayeque (3.1%) and Piura (0.4%).
On the other hand, it reduced in Pasco (-5.1%), Moquegua (-4.1%), Junín (-3.6%), Apurímac (-3.3%), Cusco (-2.8%), Puno (-2.7%), Madre de Dios (-2.7%) and Huancavelica (-2.5%), among others.
At national level, the poultry production grew in 2.3%, compared to July of 2023, based in the greater production of chicken due to the increase of placement of BB chicken of the meat line.
Five departments contributed with the 59.1% of the copper production of the country
In July of 2024, the copper production decreased in the departments of Ica (-28.4%), Cusco (-26.7%), Apurimac (-14.3%), Moquegua (-3.6%) and Arequipa (-2.4%). Nevertheless, this adverse outcome, these regions contributed with the 59.1% of the national copper production.
Meanwhile, it increased in the departments of Huánuco (72.8%), Lima (34.7%), Tacna (22.3%), Junín (18.0%), Puno (15.7%), Ancash (10.7%) and Pasco (8.1%).
Across the country, copper production contracted in 3.0% and registered for fourth month in a row a negative trend, associated to the lower levels reported in Anglo American Quellaveco, Minera Las Bambas, Hudbay Perú, Marcobre, Minera Antapaccay and Minera Cerro Verde; counterbalanced, by the greater extraction in the companies Southern Perú Copper Corporation, Minera Chinalco Perú and Antamina, among the main one.
Ica, Huancavelica and Lima contributed with the 78.2% of the production of electric energy at national level
The electricity production in Ica (83.9%), Huancavelica (25.4%) and Lima (0.2%), contributed with the 78.2% of the total electricity generation. On the other hand, decreased in Lambayeque (-62.5%), Arequipa (-62.2%), Moquegua (-47.1%), Ayacucho (-21.4%), Pasco (-13.0%), San Martín (-8.7%), Piura (-7.4%), Ucayali (-5.6%) and Cajamarca (-2.3%).
The production of electric energy at national level increased in 3.5%, influenced by the increase of the generation of hydroelectric energy in the power-stations of Mantaro, Restitución, Cerro del Águila, Huinco, El Platanal, Machupicchu and Charcani V; besides of the generation of renewable energy (Eolic and solar). Meanwhile, the energy generation of thermic origin.
Revenues Collected by Internal Taxes kept a positive behavior
In the seventh month of 2024, revenues collected by internal taxes reached 10 thousand 653 million 385 thousand Soles, higher amount in 10.4% to the registered in July of the last year. This favorable performance was influenced by the payments by income taxes and value-added taxes, among others.
Among the departments with higher levels of collection, are La Libertad (17.3%) and Lima (12.8%), concentrating the 89.1% of the total collected. In addition, it increased in Apurímac (46.9%), Madre de Dios (44.1%), Amazonas (40.2%), San Martín (31.8%), Tacna (31.7%), Moquegua (18.5%) and Puno (18.0%), among others. Nevertheless, it decreased in Ancash (-37.5%), Piura (-25.1%), Arequipa (-21.6%), Tumbes (-7.1%), Cajamarca (-4.1%) and Lambayeque (-0.2%).
