78.4% of household with children under 11 years of age that attended public educational institutions received breakfasts of Qali Warma

During the second quarter of 2024, 78.4%% of households of the country with population under 11 years of age attended to public educational institutions benefited with the program of School Breakfast Qali Warma.

The National Institute of Statistics of Informatics (INEI) through the technical report Living Conditions in Peru, prepared with the results of the National Household Survey (ENAHO) stated that the coverage of this program was higher in the rural area (88.8%) than in the urban area (74.5%), during the quarter under analysis. By comparing these figures with the same quarter of the year 2023, grew in 2.6 percentage points in the rural area; meanwhile, it decreased in 1.6 percentage points in the urban area.

During the quarter April-May-June of 2024, 90.2% of the interviewed population informed they have some type of health insurance, which mean tan increase of 2.9 percentage points compared to the same quarter of the last year (87.3%).

Although, the greater coverage of this service was registered in the rural area (93.6%), compared with the urban area (89.3%). Outstood the progress showed in the urban area (in 3.3 percentage points), compared the observed in the rural area (in 0.7 percentage points).

From the total of the affiliated population to some type of health insurance, the greater proportion of the population only accessed to the Comprehensive Health Insurance (SIS), 62.2% at national level, 56.2% in the urban area and 87.0% in the rural area. Compared to the same quarter of 2023, the affiliated population to some type of health insurance increased in a significant way at national level and in the urban area in 2.9 and 3.3 percentage points, respectively.

The population with some health problem sought medical attention in an establishment reached 46.2%, it means, 1.2 percentage points more than in the same quarter of the last year (45.0%).

According to place or establishments of consultation, 20.2% sought medical attention in a pharmacy or apothecary, 14.0% sought medical attention in establishments of the Ministry of Health (MINSA), 4.9% sought medical attention in the Social Health Insurance (EsSalud) and the 4.5% sought medical attention in a private practice.

In the urban area, the place or establishment of greater attendance were the pharmacy or apothecary (21.5%), followed by the MINSA (11.8%). Meanwhile that in the rural area the majority of the population sought medical attention in MINSA establishments (23.4%) and in pharmacy or apothecary (14.4%)

During the second quarter of the year 2024, 89.4% of the households cook food with gas (use only gas and besides gas they use other type of fuel), according to residence area, 94.5% of the urban areas use gas to cook their food and in the rural area, 70.0%. Compared to the same quarter of the year 2023, it was observed significant increases at national level and in the rural area in 2.0 and 8.9 percentage points, respectively.

Regarding the use of wood, 6.1% of the households use Wood to cook their food, in the urban area the percentage is 2.1%, meanwhile, in the rural area the percentage is 21.5%.

In the second quarter of this year, 58.5% of the population of 18 years of age and older has some account in the financial system (it includes saving account or remuneration account, time deposit account or current account).

According to residence area, this percentage was of 62.2% in the urban area and of 40.7% in the rural area. Comparing these results with the same trend of the year 2023, the population of 18 years of age and older that lives in the rural area that has account in the financial system increased in 2.1 percentage points; meanwhile, in the urban area reduced in 0.7 percentage point.
