Traffic flow of vehicles at national level grew in 4.0% during the month of July of 2024

The National Institute of Statistics and Informatics (INEI), informed that during the month of July of 2024, the National Rate of Vehicular Flow the one that reports the movement of light-duty and heavy-duty units through the tollbooths of the country increased in 4.0% compared to the same month of 2023, and in the last twelve months increased in 3.4%.
In the technical report Vehicular flow by Tollbooths indicates that the monthly result was influenced by the greater traffic flow of light-duty (4.5%) and heavy-duty (3.1%) vehicles.
Traffic flow of light-duty vehicles increased in 4.5%
In July of 2024, the traffic flow of light-duty vehicles registered through the tollbooths of the country was higher in 4.5% compared to the same month of 2023. This behavior was explained by the greater movement of persons on the occasion of the celebration of National Holidays, added to the school mid-term break that incentive the visit to the different touristic destinations a national level; as well as, events and gastronomic fairs in different regions of the country.
It is worth to mention that the high mobilization of light-duty vehicles was driven by the good performance of activities related to tourism, retail commerce, entertainment, as well as accommodation and restaurants activities.
The tollbooths with greater traffic flow were: to the north, San Martín (Moyobamba 16.2%, Pongo 8.7% and Aguas Claras 6.9%), Piura (Chulucanas 6.9% and Piura Sullana 5.1%), Cajamarca (Pomahuaca-Pucará 4.7%), La Libertad (Virú 3.5%, Chicama 3.5% and Pacanguilla 2.1%), Ancash (Huarmey 2.2%) and Lambayeque (Diverson Olmos 0.7%).
In the center, it increased in Lima (Serpentine of Pasamayo 64.4% and Fortaleza 5.9%) and Junín (Quiulla 6.6%); and in the south, Apurímac (Pichirhua 11.5%), Moquegua (Pampa Cuellar 11.2% and Ilo 0.1%), Puno (Santa Lucia 8.5%), Ayacucho (Pampa Galera 7.3%), Arequipa (Patahuasi 4.6%) and Ica (Marcona 1.8%).
Traffic flow of heavy-duty vehicles increased in 3.1%
In July of 2024, the traffic flow of heavy-duty vehicles registered through the tollbooths increased in 3.1% compared to the same month of 2023. This result was influenced by the positive behavior of the Fishing sectors associated to the start of the second fishing season in the south zone, and Mining and Hydrocarbons due to the greater extraction of gold, silver, molybdenum and lead.
In addition, the favorable performance of the Manufacturing sectors due to the manufacturing of furniture, clothing items, soaps and detergents, and printing activities; also due to Construction reflected in the physical progress of public works; and due to wholesale commerce due to the sale of machinery and equipment for Mining and Construction sectors.
The tollbooths with high traffic flow were: to the north San Martin (Aguas Claras 15.3% and Pongo 6.2%), La Libertad (Virú 10.7%, Pacanguilla 6.2% and Chicama 6.0%), Cajamarca (Pomahuaca-Pucará 9.3%), Ancash (Huarmey 7.7%), Lambayeque (Diversion Olmos 6.8%) and Piura (Piura Sullana 2.4%, Paita 1.0% and Chulucanas 0.3%).
In the center, Lima (El Paraíso 10.1%, Serpentine of Pasamayo 9.8%, Variant of Pasamayo 8.8% and Fortaleza 8.7%) and Junín (Quiulla 5.3%); and in the south, in Moquegua (Pampa Cuellar 27.8%), Ayacucho (Pampa Galera 16.0%), Ica (Jahuay Chincha 14.5% and Marcona 9.3%), Arequipa (Matarani Concesión 10.0%) and Apurímac (Pichirhua 5.7%).
Traffic flow of heavy-duty vehicles for loading of 3 to 7 axle increased in 3.2%
In the seventh month of 2024, the traffic flow of heavy-duty vehicles for loading of 3 to 7 axle grew in 3.2% compared to the same month of 2023, due to the greater traffic flow of heavy-duty vehicles, such as trailers, semi-trailers and heavy-duty vehicles for loading of 3 axle (3.6%), 4 axle (4.4%), 5 axle (2.8%), 6 axle (2.5%) and 7 axle (30.3%).
