Traffic flow of vehicles at national level increased 2.6% in June of 2024

The National Institute of Statistics and Informatics (INEI), informed that during the month of June of 2024, the National Rate of Vehicular Flow the one that reports the movement of light-duty and heavy-duty units through the tollbooths of the country increased in 2.6% compared with the same month of 2023, and in the last twelve months (July 2023 – June 2024) grew in 3.3%.
In the technical report Vehicular Flow by Tollbooths indicates that the result of the sixth month of the year result is based in the greater traffic flow of light-duty vehicles (5.1%); dimmed by the negative behavior of the traffic flow of heavy-duty vehicles (-0.4%).
Traffic flow of light-duty vehicles increased in 5.1%
During the month of June 2024, the traffic flow of light-duty vehicles reported through the tollbooths of the country, increased in 5.1% compared to June of 2023. This favorable performance was due to the greater displacement of persons at national level on the occasion of the celebrations such as the Father’s Day, the festivities of the Inti Raymi, San Juan, San Pedro and San Pablo.
Likewise, it was registered a high traffic flow of population to participate in events and gastronomic fairs in different regions of the country. In addition, it influenced the long holiday of the June 7th to commemorate the Flag Day; that promoted the tourism, retail sale and the accommodation and restaurants service with highest demand from the local and foreign visitors.
The tollbooths that registered the highest traffic flow were: to the north, Piura (Loma Larga Baja 16.0%, Chulucanas 6.6% and Piura Sullana 5.0%), San Martín (Pongo 7.0% and Aguas Claras 3.5%), La Libertad (Chicama 3.3%), Cajamarca (Pomahuaca-Pucará 1.9%) and Ancash (Huarmey 0.8%).
In the center, Lima (Serpentine of Pasamayo 31.8%, Fortaleza 4.6% and Variant of Pasamayo 0.8%) and Junín (Quiulla 3.6%); and in the south, Apurímac (Pichirhua 9.5%), Arequipa (Matarani-Concesión 5.2% and Patahuasi 1.4%), Moquegua (Pampa Cuellar 5.0% and Ilo 0.3%), Ica (Jahuay Chincha 4.4%) and Ayacucho (Pampa Galera 2.2%).
Traffic flow of heavy-duty vehicles slightly decreased in 0.4%
In June of 2024, the traffic flow of heavy-duty vehicles registered through the tollbooths reduced in 0.4% compared to the same month of 2023. The negative result of this indicator responds to the contraction of the Agriculture, Mining and Hydrocarbons and Construction sectors, which decreased the demand of the service of heavy load.
Nevertheless, it registered a greater demand of heavy-duty units of sea fishing activities, favored by the First Fishing Season in the North-Center zone; Manufacturing by the growing of the primary manufacturing sector such as the processing and preservation of fish, crustaceans and molluscs, the preparation of sugar, and the processing and conservation of meat. In addition, the wholesale commerce due to the demand of heavy-duty machinery; likewise, due to the sale of foods, beverages and tobacco for the supply of markets and retail chains.
The tollbooths with lower traffic flow, were: in the north, San Martín (Moyobamba -12.6%), Piura (Loma Larga Baja -6.9%, Paita -5.6%, Chulucanas -4.3% and Piura Sullana -2.6%), La Libertad (Pacanguilla -2.7%) and Lambayeque (Diversion Olmos -1.1%). In the center, Junín (Casaracra -15.9% and Quiulla -1.0%) and Lima (Corcona -10.1%); and in the south, Arequipa (Uchumayo-Concesión -34.8%, Patahuasi -7.8% and Matarani Concesión -2.3%), Puno (Santa Lucía -6.7%) and Moquegua (Ilo -3.1%).
Movement of heavy-duty vehicles for loading of 3 to 7 axle decreased in 0.3%
In June of 2024, the traffic Flow of heavy-duty vehicles for loading of 3 to 7 axle decreased in 0.3% compared to the same month of 2023, explained by the reduced traffic flow of vehicles, such as trailers, semi-trailers and heavy-duty vehicles of 4 axle (-2.2%) and 6 axle (-1.4%); nevertheless, grew in those of 3 axle (0.7%), 5 axle (1.9%) and 7 axle (22.4%).
