Restaurants activity grew in 4.67% in June of 2024

The activity of restaurants (services of foods and beverages) registered an increase of 4.67%, as a result of the positive evolution of restaurants, other activities of foods and beverage service. Nevertheless, the catering service registered a decrease.
During the first semester of the year 2024, the activity of restaurants registered a growth of 1.74%.
Activity in restaurants increased 4.96%
The group of restaurants increased 4.96% in June, due to the greater performance of the business of fast foods, pollerias (grilled chicken restaurants), restaurants, touristic restaurants, sandwich restaurants, chifas (Chinese food restaurants), coffee restaurants and meats and grills restaurants, which increased their sales due to the performance of events with artistic shows, special offers through applications of mobile payments and greater touristic activity.

Likewise, the activities of international foods, Food from Arequipa, pizza restaurants, confectionaries, and Creole food, grew driven by the greater advertising and strategic alliances.
Favoured to this activity the celebrations of the Inti Raymi in Cusco, the Feats of San Juan in the Peruvian Amazonia, the Father’s Day, the Day of St. Peter and St. Paul; to which it added the long holiday of June 7th due to the Flag Day. Likewise, gastronomic events were celebrated such as the Day of the Peruvian Pork Crackling and the Ceviche’s Day.

In addition, there were performed gastronomic fairs such as “Trujillo, Tradition and Flavor 2024” in Trujillo, the "Expo Saboréalo Jaén 2024" in Cajamarca, the "Festival del Pan Peruano y su postrecito", the “Festival International del Ceviche 2024”, and the “Festival Chorrillos 2024 y el Día Mundial del Ceviche”, all of them performed in Lima.
In other activities of foods service there was a growth of 4.97%
Other activities of food service increased in 4.97%, due to the activity of concessionaires of foods through the catchment and renovation of contracts with companies of the fishing, manufacturing, sectors, ministries, penal institutions, financial institutions, universities, schools, sport and commercial centers.
Likewise, the supply of foods for contractors (services of food to transportation companies) grew due to the greater demand of air and land transportation companies linked to the frequency of travels for the long holiday and local festivities of the month.
Beverage service increased 3.75%
The beverage service grew 3.75%, due to the greater activity in the establishments of coffee shops, bar restaurants and bars, in response to the hot and cold drinks menu, incorporation of thematic environments, presentation of live music performance and “after office” promotions in free drinks.
Lower catering services
On the other hand, the supply of foods by on request (catering) decreased in 27.57%, due to the lower requirement of the service of preparation and distribution of foods for events, in the attention of coffee break, working lunches, corporative and social parties.
