Commercial activity grew 2.28% in June of 2024

In June of 2024, the commerce sector registered a growth of 2.28% compared to the same month of the last year, based in the positive evolution of the wholesale and retail commerce.
Nevertheless, the automotive commerce decreased. During the first six month of the year, the commerce sector accumulated a progress of 2.44%.

The wholesale commerce increased 2.86%
The wholesale commerce grew 2.86%, driven by the sale of machinery and equipment, before the demand of heavy-duty machinery, electric equipment, medical equipment, elevators and escalators. Likewise, the sale of solid, liquid, gas fuels and lubricants increased, mainly targeted to the mining, fishing and air transportation sector, to retail supply centers and distributors of domestic gas.
In addition, the sale of textile products, clothing items and footwear due to Winter season and for the Father’s Day. The same trend registered the sale of foods, beverages and tobacco, due to the greater supply to markets and retail chains.
Likewise, the sale of agriculture raw materials increased due to the demand of grains and seeds, oleaginous fruits and raw materials used for the preparation of animal feed. Finally, the sale of electronic equipment of telecommunications and its parts registered a progress before the greater portfolio of trademarks and commercial strategies.
On the other hand, the sale of household goods and the sale of construction materials and hardware covers, decreased.
The retail commerce registered a progress of 2.71%
The retail commerce experienced an increase of 2.71%, mainly due to the sale of basic products in supermarkets, hypermarkets and mini-markets, linked to commercial strategies due to festivities such as the Father’s Day, The Feast of St. John and the Copa America.
Likewise, the department stores registered an increase in their sales, due to offers and special discounts. The sale of clothing items and footwear positively evolved due to the opening of new sales points.
In the same way, the sale of furniture for the household, illumination articles, household appliances and musical instruments, increased due to availability of liquidity. Simultaneously, the sale of new products in specialized stores grew due to the greater demand of products of security and detection of fires, laboratory supplies, products for pets, optical and agrochemical articles.
In the technological sector, the sale of computers, accessories for computers, computer programs and telecommunication equipment increased due to the renovation of laptops, tablets, cellphones and updates of software. The same trend was observed in the sale of fuels due to the greater vehicle flow.
On the other hand, the sale of pharmaceutical and medicine, cosmetic and toiletries articles; as well as the sale of hardware tools, paints and glass products.
Automotive sector registered a decrease
The automotive sector registered a decrease of 3.35% due to a lower sale of automotive vehicles and motorcycles, of their maintenance and repair of its parts, pieces and accessories; associated to a greater competence and variation of exchange rate.
On the other hand, the sale of parts, piece and accessories of automotive vehicles increased due to the demand of pneumatics, parts of motor and filters; and the maintenance and repair of automotive vehicles, increased.
