The National Institute of Statistics and Informatics (INEI) makes available the projections of the total population at district level as of June 30 of each year, for the period 2018-2026. This information constitutes an expansion the document Peru: Projections of Total Population according to Department, Province and District, 2018-2022, published in April of 2022 as part of the Serie Special Bulletin Nº 27, which comprises district projections until 2022.

In this new presentation, the updated Excel table is just shared which included the projections corresponding to the 1,892 districts currently comprised in the national territory, which allows to have an updated and complete basis to support the territory planning, the design of public policies and the assignation of resources.

It is worth to mention that this information is validated and updated by the INEI at the closure of each year, in order to be submitted to the Ministry of Economy and Finances (MEF), designed to be used in the distribution of the Municipal Compensation Fund (FONCOMUN) at district level.

At provincial and district level, it just only projects total population (both sexes), with no age disaggregation nor age, due to the limited availability of reliable data, as well as the high mobility and demographic variability in these areas.
