Description
The National Household Survey is a continuous statistical activity, that allows to obtain social, economic and demographic information of the households, dwellings and persons that live in them. Is the official source in Peru to measure living conditions and to know the evolution of poverty levels in the country. In addition, information related to household income and expenditure is requested, such as foods, clothing, footwear, education, health, housing, among others, which will allow the country to have information to determine the poverty and monetary vulnerability.
Is performed since 1995, initially known as quarterly survey, and became permanent is since 2003. It is performed in the urban and rural areas across the country, getting annual information with departmental disaggregation. It is carried out from January to December and besides it allows to perform longitudinal studies over several years.
Field personnel comprised by surveyors, supervisors and a coordinator in each departmental office. The workload by working period assigned to the surveyor in the urban area 6 households and in the rural area 8 households; in each household, information of all members of the household is collected, through face-to-face interviews that are complement with telephone interviews.
Objectives
1. To generate indicators that allows knowing the evolution of monetary poverty, of the welfare and living conditions of households.
2. To generate indicators of multidimensional poverty, complementary to monetary poverty.

3. To carry out diagnosis about living conditions and poverty of the population.
4. To measure the scoop of food and non-food social programs in the improve of living conditions of the population.
5. To serve as information source to public and private institutions, as well as researches.
6. To allow the comparability with the same researches, related with the investigated variables.
Interview method
Interview method
Direct interview method is used with properly trained and qualified personnel to that effect, who visit selected households and perform direct interview to people aged 12 years old and older during the period of information collection. The information of children under the age of 12 will be provided by the chief or responsible of the household.
Instrument of data collection
The survey collects the information in mobiles devices (Tablet) with data plan for online shipment of the information at the end of the interview.
