Peru participated in conference in Manila on the 10th anniversary of the Pacific Alliance

The embassies of the four member countries of the Pacific Alliance (PA) accredited to the Philippines celebrated the 10th anniversary of the PA this morning through the conference “The Pacific Alliance and the Philippines:  Opportunities for a Renewed Partnership”.

The event, held in person at the Peninsula Hotel in Manila and virtually in other locations in the Philippines and in the four PA member countries in their respective time zones, was inaugurated by the Minister of Commerce, Industry and Tourism of Colombia, the PA chair in 2021. On the Philippine side, the keynote presentation was given by the Secretary of Trade and Industry of the Philippines.

The ambassadors of Chile, Colombia, Mexico and Peru, accredited to the Philippine government delivered speeches on the business climate and the attractive trade and investment opportunities in the expanded PA market. The Peruvian ambassador, resident in Bangkok and concurrent in the Philippines, introduced the role of the private sector in boosting and strengthening the economic ties between the PA and the Philippines, inviting the establishment of supply and value chains in face of the post-pandemic economic recovery and the 4th industrial revolution.

Representatives from business sectors from the Philippines and from the four PA countries, including the president of the Philippine Chamber of Commerce and Industry and the Corporate Affairs Manager of COMEX-Peru, shared their positive experiences in trade and investment and encouraged their counterparts to increase and complement business between the Philippines and the PA.
