The Foreign Ministers of Peru and Thailand met in New York City

On Wednesday, September 22, the Ministers of Foreign Affairs of Peru, Ambassador Óscar Maúrtua, and Thailand, Ambassador Don Pramudwinai, met in New York City. The meeting took place within the framework of the attendance of both foreign ministers to the 76th session of the United Nations General Assembly. The heads of the Peruvian and Thai diplomacy reviewed the main aspects of the bilateral relationship - described for some years now as a "strategic partnership" - and agreed on the importance of continuing to expand opportunities for trade, investment, and cooperation, taking into account the diversified common agenda, economic complementarity and similar levels of development between the two countries.

The Foreign Ministers highlighted the importance of promptly convening the 6th meeting of the Joint Commission on Bilateral Cooperation (JCBC), postponed in 2020 due to the pandemic; celebrated the successful holding last November of the 4th meeting of the Working Group between the cooperation agencies of both countries; highlighted the mutual interest in expanding Thailand's link with the Pacific Alliance; and, agreed to cooperate in the framework of the APEC Forum to be chaired by Thailand in 2022.

In November 2020, Peru and Thailand celebrated 55 years of very cordial and fruitful diplomatic relations.
