On Tuesday night, July 27, on the eve of the central day of the Bicentennial of the Independence of the Republic of Peru, four emblematic buildings in the city of Bangkok, capital of the Kingdom of Thailand, were illuminated with the red and white colors of the Peruvian flag as a form of adhesion of Thai public and private institutions to this important Peruvian commemoration.

The first lights with the red and white colors were turned on at 18:45 at the Thailand Cultural Centre, an important governmental venue for the diffusion of creative arts in Thailand. This first lighting was supported by the Ministries of Culture and Foreign Affairs of Thailand. Minutes later, the white and red colors were also lit up on the giant screen located at the main entrance of the Siam Paragon shopping mall, alternating with greetings to Peru, in English and Thai, for the bicentennial. This second illumination was sponsored by the Siam Piwat Group, one of the most important in the country.

At 20:00 hrs, the tower "The Pearl Bangkok", whose oval shape and large dimensions have made it one of the main attractions of the city, was illuminated with the colors of Peru. This third illumination was made possible thanks to the sponsorship of the Peruvian company AJETHAI (Añaños Group) established in Thailand for more than 25 years. Finally, the circuit was completed with the projection of a greeting to Peru on the revolving screen of the emblematic Baiyoke Sky Hotel, located in the highest part of the tower (309 meters) and visible from all points of the city. From 6.00 p.m. to midnight, the tower projected a salute to Peru for its 200 years of republican life showing the flag and the Bicentennial logo.

These important tokens of appreciation towards Peru were also complemented yesterday with the thoughtful letter addressed by the Prime Minister of Thailand to the President-elect of Peru congratulating him on the upcoming start of his high responsibilities and the Bicentennial of the Republic while highlighting and valuing the 55 years of excellent diplomatic relations between the two countries.
