Ambassador Allan Wagner was elected as President of APEC Vision Group

Peruvian ambassador Allan Wagner, Director of the Diplomatic Academy of Peru and President of The Peruvian Network of Asia-Pacific Studies (REDAP) was elected by acclamation as President of APEC Vision Group (AVG), during its first meeting, hold in parallel to the second encounter of Senior Officials of the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation Forum, at Port Moresby, Papua New Guinea, on May 22, 2018.
The establishment of APEC Vision Group materialize the initiative presented by Peru during its 2016 APEC presidency, to initiate a process of consideration about "APEC to 2020 and Further", date set by the Bogor Goals, to achieve a region fully open to trade and investment.
In 2017, the APEC Leaders in Vietnam gave a structure to the aforementioned process with the adoption of a mandate to create the group now called "APEC Vision Group" or AVG - with representatives from each of the 21 economies. The appointments have formed a group of personalities with extensive political-diplomatic, academic and business experience, as well as in multilateral economic-commercial organizations.
The AVG group will meet twice a year, during 2018 and 2019, and in parallel to the Meeting of Senior Officials (SOM) to finally present its "Final Report of Recommendations", for consideration of the Leaders in the APEC Summit at Santiago, Chile.
