V Meeting of Joint Commission for Bilateral Cooperation between Peru-Thailand

On July 9, 2018, at the headquarters of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Peru, in Lima, took place the V Meeting of the Joint Commission of Bilateral Cooperation Peru-Thailand, co-chaired by the Vice Minister of Foreign Affairs of Peru, Ambassador Hugo de Zela, and the Vice Minister of Foreign Affairs of Thailand, Ambassador Virasakdi Futrakul. Both delegations held fruitful exchanges on the broad agenda of the bilateral relationship, as well as on regional and multilateral matters of interest for both countries. Among the topics discussed, highlighting bilateral trade, cooperation in education, culture, tourism, sports and, mainly, in the field of alternative development to which our countries attach great importance.
The delegations of the two countries committed themselves to continue strengthening the joint work within the framework of existing bilateral mechanisms, especially in the field of technical cooperation (tourism, mining, aquaculture, small and medium enterprises, etc.).
In the framework of this V meeting, Vice Minister Futrakul made a courtesy call to the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Peru, Ambassador Néstor Popolizio, in which both officials expressed satisfaction for the high level that the bilateral relationship has reached for more than 52 years of diplomatic relations and highlighted the joint work that Peru and Thailand should carry out during the next year, respectively, in their respectives presidencies of the Pacific Alliance (AP) and the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN).
