Four Embassies of the member countries of the Pacific Alliance, together with the Embassies of Spain and the Philippines, held on 8th and 9th October in Bangkok, a commemorative event of "Manila Galleon Day". This activity was supported by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Thailand, the Regional Office of the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) in Bangkok, and Thammasat University, where this event took place.

The Ambassador of Peru, the country that holds the Pro Tempore Presidence of the Pacific Alliance, offered the welcoming words highlighting the great historical importance of the 250 years (1565-1815) in which galleons, under Spanish administration, transported goods, people and culture between the Asian continent (Manila) and the Pacific coasts of America (Acapulco). Among other products, the Manila Galleon took Peruvian and Mexican silver demanded strongly by China for the stability of its economy, as well as species, plants and products that took root in Asia. On the reverse route, there were many products from all over Asia, some of them luxury, which were then distributed throughout the different territories of the Americas.

The Peruvian historian Margarita Suárez participated, through a video, with a presentation about the participation of Peru in the route of the Manila Galleon. Experts from Chile, Colombia, Spain, the United States, the Philippines, Mexico and Thailand also participated.
