Ambassador of Peru in Myanmar paid a working visit to Yangon and Nay Pyi Taw

The Ambassador of Peru to the Republic of the Union of Myanmar, with residence in Bangkok, held a working visit between January 4 and 7 to the cities of Yangon and Nay Pyi Taw.

On Friday 4th January, the Ambassador of Peru participated in an official banquet for the 71st Anniversary of the Independence of Myanmar, offered by President U Win Myint, at the Presidential Palace of Nay Pyi Taw.

Likewise, on Monday 7th, he was received in the audience by Mrs. Aung San Suu Kyi, State Counsellor and Minister of Foreign Affairs of Myanmar, on the occasion of addressing the various aspects of the bilateral relationship. On the same day in the afternoon, the Ambassador also held working meetings with the Minister of Industry, U Khin Maung Cho, and with the Minister of Hotels and Tourism, U Ohn Maung. Later, he met with the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, U Myint Thu, and with the Director-General of Political Affairs, U Soe Han.

On Thursday 3rd in the city of Yangon, the Ambassador of Peru held another work meeting with the President of the Federation of the Chambers of Commerce and Industry of Myanmar, Mr. Zaw Min Win, who was accompanied by representatives of various business organizations of the mentioned country.

As a result of these meetings, it has been agreed to propose agreements to establish a mechanism for consultation and bilateral cooperation, an agreement to exempt the visa requirements for diplomatic passport holders and also consider the possibility of establishing a mechanism of visa on arrival for Peruvians ordinary passport holders for tourism purposes. On the other hand, it has been agreed to intensify the information exchange to promote economic, commercial and tourism relations.
