Embassy of Peru in Thailand celebrates July 28th with the Peruvian community

Sunday, July 28, The Embassy of Peru in Thailand and the Peruvian community resident in Bangkok celebrated the 198th Anniversary of the National Independence of Peru with a lunch at the new Peruvian restaurant "Machu Picchu & Pisco". More than 40 Peruvian families attended, as well as the Honorary Consul of Peru in the Province of Khon Kaen.
In a red-and-white-colored ambiance and with background Peruvian music, the attendees enjoyed the most emblematic dishes of Peru’s national cuisine, also various Pisco-based cocktails. The Ambassador of Peru wished a “Happy 28” to all participants and emphasized the happy coincidence of Peru’s national day with the birthday of His Majesty the King of Thailand, King Maha Vajiralongkorn or King Rama X, who celebrated his 67th birthday. The Ambassador also congratulated the attendees for the work they do in this country, mainly in the field of business and liberal professions, while still maintaining their links with Peru through their values and their culture which gives prestige to Peru. Finally, he mentioned the good bilateral relations between Peru and Thailand in the political, economic, commercial and cultural fields.
On his part, the Chief of the Consular Section offered a toast with Pisco Sour and highlighted the great integration existing between his office and the Peruvian community in Thailand, including through social networking, among others. He reiterated that the consular staff is permanently dedicated to assisting the Peruvian community and invited the participants to attend various cultural promotion activities of Peru in Thailand. He also highlighted the consular policy, carried out by the Peruvian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, which aims to provide consular services and assistance to the Peruvian communities abroad. Finally, he read the message of the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Peru to the Peruvian people who reside outside their country.
In the morning of July 28, at 7.30 - 12.30 a.m., the Thai national radio station, Radio Thailand, broadcasted the national anthem of Peru and a recorded message from the Peruvian ambassador in which he highlighted the excellent level achieved by the bilateral relations between the two countries and greeted the Peruvian community on the occasion of the 198th Anniversary of the National Independence and also the Thai people, especially His Majesty the King Maha Vajiralongkorn on his birthday.
Further celebrations of the anniversary of Peru’s Independence Day in Thailand will be held on August 7, with a reception and a concert of Peruvian music. For the upcoming event, Thai authorities, diplomats, businessmen, academics, and other friends of Peru have been invited.
