For the second consecutive year, the Embassy of Peru in Thailand was invited to participate in the ceremony celebrating the Thai “Loy Kratong” festival, whose main motive is to thank the water deity (Phra Mae Khongkha) for sustaining life, through offerings (Krathongs) deposited in the rivers and canals of the country. This holiday is celebrated every year on the full moon day of the twelfth month of the traditional Thai calendar.

The Embassy of Peru was the only guest from Latin America, out of a total of 15 participating diplomatic missions. On this occasion, the Krathong presented by Peru consisted of artistic representation (sculpture) of the Inca citadel of Machu Picchu. The exhibition remained open until November 24.

The ceremony was held at the "IconSiam" Shopping Center, on the banks of the Chao Phraya River, the most important river artery in Thailand. It was attended by senior authorities of the Thai government and the city of Bangkok as well as representatives of local institutions and companies, Heads of Diplomatic Mission accredited in the country and a large number of Thai public and tourists.

The Ambassadors in attendance floated their Krathongs with flowers and candles on the river.
