As part of the 9th Silk Celebration Festival "Thai Silk Road to the World 2019", which was held in Bangkok, on November 18, 2019, Peruvian designer Carlos Vigil presented his collections "Retablo" and "Jardín de Invierno”. The first one was specially prepared for the occasion, using Thai silk that was sent to Peru some months ago.
The “Retablo” collection has been praised by fashion experts from more than 70 countries attending the Thai festival, due to its high quality, colorful and innovative design, inspired by the ancient Andean culture and, more specifically, the beautiful art of the famous "retablos ayacuchanos".
The great works of the foreign designers invited by the government of Thailand were presented to the public from November 18 to 22 at Central World, one of the largest and most prestigious shopping centers in Bangkok.
The main activity of the Festival took place on Saturday, November 23, and consists of a great “extravaganza” of Thai silk, a grand event with three thousand guests, chaired by the Prime Minister of Thailand, in which professional models, Thai authorities and representatives from 71 countries participated in a great fashion show where Thai silk merged with the art of the best designers in the world.
On this occasion, The Peruvian designer Carlos Vigil represented Peru at the invitation of the Peruvian Embassy and thanks to the auspices of the Thai government. Along with the presentation of the two collections by designer Carlos Vigil, the Peruvian Embassy in Thailand exhibited handicrafts, publications on fashion and clothing in Peru and spread cultural, tourist and gastronomic promotional material. Likewise, some samples of Peruvian cuisine (snacks and chicha morada) were offered to the attendees to the fashion show as well as non-alcoholic beverages produced in Thailand by the Peruvian company AJETHAI (Añaños Group).
