Peru participated in the 9th International Thai Silk Festival

With great success, Peru participated in the “Extravaganza” for closing the 9th Thai Silk Celebration Festival (“9th Celebration of Silk. Thai Silk Road to the World 2019”) that was held at the Convention Center of the Royal Thai Navy in Bangkok. on Saturday 23rd November 2019.

The event was chaired by the Prime Minister of Thailand, General Prayut Chan-o-cha, who was accompanied by Deputy Prime Minister Wissanu Kreangam, the Minister of Culture Itthiphol Khunpluem, members of the organizing committee, Thai authorities, members of the Diplomatic Corps accredited in Thailand and personalities from the fashion world, among which was the famous Malaysian designer Jimmy Choo.

Peru participated in this festival through Peruvian designer Carlos Vigil, who presented an individual show on November 18, parading two of his collections.

In the final session on Saturday, November 23, the Peruvian designer presented two outfits that were modeled by the Ambassador of Peru and spouse, whilst Heads of Diplomatic Missions and other representatives of 71 accredited Embassies in Bangkok did the same with creations of designers from their own countries.

This important event was attended by around 2,500 people and fashion designers from more than 70 countries and the best Thai fashion designers.

This year more than 3,000 meters of handmade Thai silk fabric was handed over to the designers to make the costumes displayed, under the auspices of the Royal House, in honor of Her Majesty Queen Mother Sirikit.

A dress by Peruvian designer Carlos Vigil was chosen by the organizers as the symbol of this 9th Silk Festival in two of the most important activities at the Government House of Thailand, prior to the closing of the festival that took place on Saturday, November 23.
