On December 3, 2019, the Ambassador of Peru in Thailand paid a courtesy visit to the Vice Minister of Foreign Affairs of Thailand, Mr. Vijavat Isarabhakdi, who assumed his current duties last August.

During the meeting, both pointed out the high level reached by the bilateral relationship through the different topics encompassed by its agenda and the high-level visits and exchanges that took place in 2019,  such as the royal private visit to Peru by Her Royal Highness Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn in April,  and the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Peru, Ambassador Jaime Pomareda's visit to Bangkok to sign the Instrument of Accession of Peru to the Treaty of Friendship and Cooperation in Southeast Asia (TAC), in July.

Among other important issues, they highlighted that the 55th Anniversary of the Establishment of Diplomatic Relations between Thailand and Peru will be commemorated in 2020, an occasion that will be conducive to the organization of joint activities -in Bangkok and Lima- to continue promoting this relationship.

Finally both underlined the importance of further strengthening economic and commercial relations, as well as cultural and people-to-people contacts. With that in mind, the Peruvian Ambassador acknowledged the access of Peruvian Hass Avocado to the Thai Market, authorized in June 2019.
