Peru's Jorge Chávez International Airport's COVID-19 protocol

Nota Informativa

13 de March de 2020 - 12:00 a. m.

The Government of Peru has mandated the suspension of all flights from/to Europe and Asia to/from Peru as of 16 March 2020, for the period of 30 days. The aforementioned period could be extended according to the evolution of the pandemic.

The protocol to follow on arrival in Peru is as follows:

  • All persons entering Peruvian national territory must sign and submit a “Health Affidavit for Travelers to Prevent Coronavirus (COVID-19) Form 1.0”, which will be handed out by their airline carrier (see a specimen attached).
  • Once the aircraft lands, its Captain will report if there is any symptomatic passenger. If this is the case, the aircraft will be transferred to a remote area of the airport, and by means of a special ambulance, the passenger experiencing suspicious symptom will be evacuated to an on-site emergency hospital.
  • If there are no symptomatic passengers on the aircraft, as soon as all the passengers disembark, officials from the Ministry of Health will test their temperature. Those who present fever will be separated and submitted to the corresponding medical clearance.
  • Passengers who have been in Spain, France, Italy or China two weeks prior to the date of arrival to Peru must undergo 14 days of isolation (quarantine) at their homes or hotels, at their own cost. This list of countries can be modified accordingly.
  • Passengers from other countries will deliver their Health Affidavit and will be contacted later in case an asymptomatic passenger on their same flight is confirmed positive for COVID-19.
