For the third consecutive year, the Embassy of Peru in Thailand was invited to participate in the ceremony celebrating the traditional Thai festival "Loy Krathong", held on Saturday 31 October at "Icon Siam" shopping center in Bangkok, on the banks of the Chao Phraya River.
This traditional celebration's main motive is to give thanks to the water goddess (Phra Mae Khongkha) for the life through offerings (krathongs) placed in the rivers, lakes, and canals in the country. It is celebrated every year on the full moon day of the twelfth month of the Thai traditional calendar.
The "krathong" presented this year by Peru represents the multiple and varied cultural richness and some of the numerous tourist attractions in Peru, using paper cutting techniques and recycled materials.
The ceremony was attended by high-level officials of the Thai government and Bangkok Metropolitan, as well as representatives from local institutions and companies, ambassadors from 15 participating diplomatic missions, and a large number of the public.
