With great success, the Embassy of Peru participated Sunday in the “Extravaganza”, the closing event of the 10th Celebration of Silk: Thai Silk Road to the World 2020 organized as part of the celebrations of Thailand’s National Day and the 93rd birthday anniversary of King Rama IX. The event was held at the Royal Thai Navy Convention Center, on the banks of the Chao Phraya River, Bangkok.

The main event was chaired by Prime Minister General Prayuth Chan-o-cha, accompanied by Deputy Prime Minister Mr. Wissanu Kreangam, Culture Minister Ittiphol Kunplome, Thai senior officials, entrepreneurs, representatives of civil society, media outlets and members of the diplomatic corps accredited to Thailand. Around 1,500 people attended the event.

Unlike previous years, on this occasion, fashion designers from the various countries invited could not travel to Thailand due to COVID-19 restrictions, so the costumes on display were made by students from 70 design schools all over the country with "online" advice from fashion professionals of participating countries. Mahasarakham Vocational College (northeast of Thailand) was appointed to be in charge of the design and manufacture of the Peruvian costumes, and for that purpose, they had the generous virtual advice from the Peruvian designer, Carlos Vigil.

In the fashion show last Sunday, the ambassador of Peru and his spouse dressed up in two beautiful suits made with Thai silk and designed with elements of Peruvian culture. Also modeled were 33 other ambassadors, 26 spouses of heads of the mission, 33 embassy representatives and 28 honorary consuls, making a total of 100 countries participating in this 10th celebration of Thai silk.
