Travel to Peru - New restrictions to prevent the spread of COVID-19 - Mandatory quarantine and other measures

Nuevas medidas para el ingreso al Perú - Prevención del COVID-19
We inform that on December 31, 2020, the Peruvian government published the Supreme Decree No. 207-2020-PCM which approved sanitary measures to prevent the spread in the Peruvian territory of new variants of the SARS-CoV-2 virus.

The measures established by the aforementioned Decree that will enter into force from today are the following:

MANDATORY QUARANTINE FOR ALL TRAVELERS:
1. Mandatory quarantine, from January 4, 2021, for all Peruvians, foreign residents residing in Peru and foreign visitors who enter to the national territory by way of international transport, regardless of the country of origin.
2. Peruvian citizens, foreign residents and visitors will quarantine at their home, in the “Villa Panamericana” or another temporary isolation center, or in an accommodation, prior coordination with the national health authority.

ANTIGEN TEST
1. All Peruvian citizens, foreigners residing in Peru and foreign visitors, who enter the national territory by international transport, between January 1 and 3, 2021, from countries where the new variants of the SARS-CoV-2 virus have been identified, will receive an antigen test to discard COVID-19 at the same day of their arrival in the country. Those who come from a different destination will be tested randomly.

2. Those visitors whose result is positive will enter into mandatory isolation for 14 days, which will be held in the “Villa Panamericana” or another temporary isolation center.
It is important to note that the provisions contained in “Technical Guide: Health Protocol for the care of travelers on commercial international flights” will still be applied to all Peruvian citizens, foreign residents and foreign visitors who enter Peru. 

The mandatory measures contained in the Technical Guide are:

-Mandatory presentation, upon entering the Peruvian territory, of a molecular test, conducted within 72 hours prior to boarding a flight to Peru, with negative results of COVID-19.
-The registration of the “Health Affidavit for travelers to prevent COVID-19”.
-Mandatory use of masks and protective shield.
