Every two years, the high authorities in digital transformation of the countries of Latin America and the Caribbean meet in this high-level political body to establish joint actions and promote horizontal cooperation. Likewise, they make projections on the impact of trends in digital matters and promote the use of digital technologies and innovation in favor of citizens, especially the most vulnerable populations.

All this with the coordination of Red Gealc, an entity that promotes horizontal cooperation, the development of participatory public policies, the training of public officials, the exchange of solutions, among other actions aimed at providing a unique instrument that supports the implementation of digital government policies that have the citizen and their needs at the center.

Digital Peru makes its way

At the VII Ministerial Summit on Government and Digital Transformation of the Americas in Lima, the VII Ministerial Meeting on Digital Government and the XVI Annual Meeting of Red Gealc will take place. Likewise, it will represent the return to face-to-face attendance, since 2020 had to be carried out virtually due to the sanitary measures adopted by the coronavirus, and it constitutes a great opportunity for Peru to show the important advances that it has achieved and that led to the World Bank to place it in Group A of countries with the highest level in digital transformation with equity.

The country has incorporated into its General Government Policy the commitment to promote a "government and digital transformation with equity" that guarantees inclusive, safe and quality access to the digital environment, as well as the use of digital technologies in all its regions to consolidate digital citizenship, taking into account their conditions of vulnerability and cultural diversity.

The host of this summit is the Secretariat of Digital Government and Transformation of the Presidency of the Council of Ministers of Peru (PCM), which exercises leadership in matters of government, trust and digital transformation in the country, and has been leading the deployment of digital technologies in favor of this great objective.
