Census Types in Peru

Population Census

Find out how many inhabitants the country has. For this purpose, all the inhabitants who are in Peru are counted, without omitting anyone, whether they are elderly persons, adults, young people, children or babies, whether they are men or women.

The condition is that they are within the national territory during the Registration Process, including foreigners.

Housing Census

Seeks to count all homes (occupied or unoccupied) that are in the country, in the urban or rural area.

These can be independent homes, building apartments, condominiums, alleys or plot of land, huts or cottages, as well as premises not made for human habitable space but being used like this. Collective housings are also registered.

Indigenous Communities Census

It counts communities to get information on the legal status of the lands and community organization, equipment and means of transportation, access to social programs, education, health and traditional medicine, ancestral practices, economic, sociocultural characteristics and migration of the indigenous community.

This serves as basis for making comprehensive development plans, as well as formulating programs and State policies with social inclusion.

National Economic Census

This statistical research performs the count national level of all businesses or companies that produce and/or sell goods and services. The information obtained enables to know the main characteristics of the registered businesses and/or companies, being their results an important input for the formulation of economic policies.

National Agricultural Census

It is a statistical activity that allows to know the structure of the country’s agricultural sector, in a disaggregated manner at the level of each district that carries out agricultural activities. Its results allow the formulation of development plans and the adoption of policies that contribute to improving the standard of living of the population linked to agricultural activities.
