Within the framework of these meetings, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, in charge of organizing APEC, invited the following institutions to participate in APEC Arequipa Fair:

  • Ministry of Foreign Trade and Tourism;
  • Ministry of Women;
  • Ministry of Production and
  • Devida

These will present their services.

PLACE:

HOUR:

From 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

PRODUCTS:

Coffee, chocolate, chifles, nectars, jams, and others.

I. BACKGROUND

1.1 This year, Peru is hosting APEC. This decision is part of the State policy of strengthening our relations with the Asia-Pacific region, allowing for a beneficial insertion in the face of the accelerated process of globalization that we are experiencing, which requires active work to highlight the importance of APEC as an option to position Peru as an attractive destination for investment, trade, tourism, and business.

1.2. In response to the interest of DEVIDA's Senior Management to participate in APEC 2024, two meetings were held (February 9 and April 5, 2024) between the APEC Organizing Working Committee of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Global Engagement Directorate, Promotion and Monitoring Directorate and Promotion Sub-Directorate.

I. DEVIDA PARTICIPATION

Devida will participate in an institutional stand at the APEC Arequipa Fair and will present the prioritized objectives of the National Anti-Drug Policy by 2030.

A two-barista tasting service has been hired, to promote and market sustainable alternative products from PIRDAIS, such as coffee, cocoa, and its derivatives, and productive diversification.

III. GOALS:

  • Make visible the institutional work carried out by DEVIDA for the benefit of the strategic areas of intervention and vulnerable populations in the country affected by illicit crops, illicit trafficking, and drug consumption within the framework of the prioritized objectives of the National Anti-Drug Policy by 2030.
  • Present the prioritized objectives of the National Anti-Drug Policy by 2030: Improve the socioeconomic and institutional situation of the strategic areas of intervention; reduce illicit drug production and trade in strategic areas of intervention as well as reduce drug consumption in vulnerable populations
  • Promote the products of the Alternative Route from the Ayacucho, Cusco, Huánuco, Pasco, Puno, Ucayali, and Vraem regions.
