Electricity subsector increased 7.34% in June 2026

The chief of the National Institute of Statistics and Informatics (INEI), Dr. Gaspar Morán Flores, informed that in June of 2026 the electricity subsector increased by 7.34%, compared to the same month of 2025, determined by the positive performance of the generation of thermoelectric origin energy (29.04%) and of wind-solar renewable origin energy (13.38%), meanwhile, the hydroelectric origin energy decreased (-9.40%).

According to the technical report Conjuncture Progress of Economic Activity, sated that between the companies that outstood by its dynamic nature were Kallpa Generación, Termochilca, Engie Energía Perú, Orygen Perú, Enel Generación Piura, Fénix Power Perú, Empresa de Electricidad del Perú and Empresa de Generación Eléctrica Huanza.

During the sixth month of the current year, the fishing sector contracted by 51.94%, compared to the same month of 2025. This behavior was linked to the lower extraction of species of maritime origin (-55.09%), destined to indirect human consumption (preparation of fishmeal and fish oil), by placing the landing of anchovy in 629 tons during June of 2026, against the 462,302 tons registered in June of 2025, which represented a decrease of 99.9% due to the temporary suspension of the extraction of the resource by weather alterations.

Nevertheless, the capture of species for direct human consumption grew by 9.49%, due to the increase of the extraction of species destined to the preparation of frozen (23.3%) and for the consumption in fresh state (5.1%).

On the other hand, the continental fishing decreased 22.29%, associated to the lower volume landing of species for consumption in fresh state (-18.6%), for frozen (-40.6%) and cured (-10.44%).

During June of 2026, the hydrocarbons subsector registered a growth of 0.19%, compared to the same month of the last year, due to the dynamism of the production of natural gas (10.8%) and liquids of natural gas (3.5%), dimmed due to the drop in the production of crude oil (-16.6%).

The favorable result of the production of natural gas was mainly explained by the increase of Pluspetrol Perú Corporation in the lots 56 and 88, as well as Repsol in the lot 57. Likewise, the greater extraction of liquids of natural gas had as origin Repsol in the lot 57 and Pluspetrol Perú Corporation in the lot 56.

Nevertheless, this favorable variation was dimmed by the lower production of crude oil, mainly due to the lower volumes obtained by PetroTal Peru in the lot 95, Petroperú in the lots VI and Z-69, UNNA Energía in the lots III and IV, OIG Perú in the lot X, Ucawa Energy in the lot 131 and Olympic Perú in the lot XIII.

During June of 2026, the domestic cement consumption increased by 12.54%, compared to the same month of the year 2025, reflected in works of housings and infrastructure in companies of the private sector, as well as projects of self-construction of houses.

During the sixth month of 2026, the consumption credit placed in S/ 86,337 million, growing by 13.10%, compared to the same month of the year 2025. Likewise, the mortgage credits totalized S/ 74,228 million, with an increase of 7.76% compared to June of 2025. On the other hand, the credits granted to corporations: large, medium, small and micro-enterprises totalized S/ 230,004 million, with a growth of 5.56% compared to the same month of 2025.

Meanwhile, the placement of credit cards of the multiple banking reached 7,199 thousand of units, registering a positive variation of 7.96%, compared to June of 2025.

During the month under analysis, the total import amount was of US$ 5,963 million, presenting a positive variation of 29.68%, compared to the value registered in June of the year 2025.

Therefore, the import of capital goods and construction materials totalized US$ 1,927 million, increasing by 38.93%, compared to the same month of 2025. The imported amount of consumption goods totalized US$ 1,288 million, growing by 22.00%, compared to the value registered during the same month of 2025. In addition, the amount imported of raw materials and intermediate products was of US$ 2,748 million, increasing by 27.48%, compared to June of 2025.
