Five departments contributed with the 65.4% of the total production of hard yellow corn in February of 2026

During February of 2026, the production of hard yellow corn increased in Ucayali (53.4%), Ica (19.9%), San Martín (18.0%), Madre de Dios (17.0%) and Ancash (3.0%), which contributed with the 65.4% of the national total; this was informed by the Chief of the National Institute of Statistics and Informatics (INEI), Dr. Gaspar Morán Flores.


In addition, he stated that this crop registered a positive behavior in the departments of Lambayeque (474.9%) associated to a low production in February of 2025; followed by Huancavelica (118.8%), Ayacucho (64.0%), Cajamarca (54.8%) and La Libertad (10.2%). On the other hand, it decreased in Piura (-83.9%), Lima (-36.3%), Puno (-27.6%), Huánuco (-10.7%), Amazonas (-7.8%), Loreto (-4.5%), Junín (-2.6%) and Pasco (-1.7%).


Likewise, he also informed that the production of hard yellow corn reached 122 thousand 565 tons, higher volume in 13.7% to the obtained in the same month of 2025. In this result, influenced the good weather conditions that favored the plant development of the grain; as well as the high demand for the preparation of balanced food aimed to the poultry sector.


Ancash and La Libertad led the blueberries production by concentrating the 79.7% of the national total
Blueberry production in February of 2026 increased in the departments of Ancash (62.0%) and La Libertad (35.5%), that together participated with the 79.7% of the national total; meanwhile, it decreased in Ica (-31.8%), Lambayeque (-17.7%) and Lima (-8.0%).


During the month under analysis, the production of this fruit totalized 15 thousand 501 tons and achieved a growth of 26.6% compared to the same month of the last year, driven by the increase of the prices of export of this crop of great international demand, which boosted the greater sowings performed in the main producer departments.


80.6% of the poultry production was reported in the poultry centers of La Libertad, Lima and Ica During the second month of 2026, the poultry production mainly increased in the departments of La Libertad (2.7%), Lima (2.3%) and Ica (0.9%), which contributed with the 80.6% of the national total.


At the same time, it increased in San Martín (3.9%), Pasco (3.8%), Ucayali (3.4%), Ancash (1.9%), Loreto (1.9%), Amazonas (1.8%), Madre de Dios (1.3%) and Tacna (0.7%); meanwhile that it reduced in Lambayeque (-6.7%), Junín (-2.7%), Piura (-1.6%) and Arequipa (-0.7%), among others.


In Peru, during the month under analysis, poultry production increased by 1.8%, compared to February of the last year, based in the greater placement of the meat line BB chicken in the poultry centers.


Three departments contributed with almost the 50% of the total copper production
During February of 2026, the copper production outstood in the departments of Ancash (39.7%), Arequipa (3.1%) and Apurímac (2.9%), that together represented 49.5% of the national total. On the other hand, it decreased in Huancavelica (-27.9%), Ica (-26.1%), Cajamarca (-20.9%), Lima (-13.5%), Cusco (-8.9%), Tacna (-8.0%), Pasco (-5.0%), Moquegua (-4.6%) and Junín (-3.3%).


At national level, the copper production grew by 2.6% compared to the same month of 2025, explained by the high volumes extracted in the following companies: Antamina, Las Bambas, Shouxin Perú, Cerro Verde, Norcobre and Colquisiri; added to the contribution of Argentum.


It is worth to mention that during the month under study, it increased the levels obtained of iron, tin and gold; nevertheless, the molybdenum, silver, lead and zinc contracted.


Electricity production increased in 14 departments
During February of 2026, electricity production increased in Puno (115.6%), Arequipa (110.6%), Piura (27.8%), Junín (17.9%), Ica (12.9%), Cajamarca (4.4%) and Huancavelica (1.4%), compared to the same month of the last year, which contributed with the 43.0% of the total generated. The same result was observed in Lambayeque (46.5%), Madre de Dios (38.6%), Ayacucho (34.9%), Tacna (15.0%), Loreto (8.0%), Pasco (7.8%) and Apurímac (6.7%).


Opposite situation was registered in Ucayali (-34.9%), Amazonas (-26.3%), San Martín (-25.8%), Ancash (-23.5%), Tumbes (-9.1%) and Lima (-8.1%), among others.


Across the country, electric energy production increased by 3.1% compared to the same month of the last year, before the greater generation of hydraulic energy, mainly in the power stations of Charcani V, Chimay, Yanango, Aricota II, Carhuaquero, Ángel I and II, Yuncán and Restitución.


In addition, the non-conventional energy generation increased due to the increased production of wind and solar energy. On the other hand, the generation of thermic energy decreased in the power stations of Aguaytía, Fenix, Chilca I, Nepi, Kallpa and Santa Rosa II, among others.


Revenues collected by internal taxes increased in 22 departments
During the second month of 2026, the revenues collected by internal taxes grew in 22 departments, among those that outstood were: Lima (13.4%) participating with 85.9% of the total collected; followed by Arequipa (63.3%), La Libertad (15.8%), Ica (12.7%), Lambayeque (12.7%), Piura (4.9%) and Cusco (2.0%). Nevertheless, it decreased in Ucayali (-37.4%) and Amazonas (-9.0%).


At national level, the figure collected totalized 12 thousand 664 million 397 thousand Soles, higher amount by 14.3% compared to the collected in February of the last year, driven by the increase in the payments of the income tax, general sales tax and selective excise tax.
