Mayors must update the National Registration of Municipalities 2026

With the objective of having updated and reliable information on the management of local governments, the National Institute of Statistics and Informatics (INEI) started in 1 April the update of the National Registration of Municipalities (RENAMU) 2026, statistical research that allows to know the organization, resources and services that municipalities across the country provide.

During this period, 1,892 provincial and district municipalities, as well as 3,084 municipalities of populated centers, must register or update its information through digital forms, in compliance of the Chief Resolution N° 077-2026-INEI, published in 27 March in the Official Newspaper El Peruano.

The registration collects information on the municipal personnel by occupation category and labor condition, equipment and computing resources, citizen security, management of disaster risk, public services, protection and conservation of the environment, number of licenses for operating business, buildings and urban empowerment.

In addition, there were performed actions in education, health, sports, recreation, social organizations, neighborhood participation and cases attended in the Municipal Defenders of Girl, Boy and Adolescents, among other relevant variables.

This information will allow to strengthen the decision-making of the national, regional and local governments, in addition shall be used as input for researchers, students and citizens in general.

Likewise, the provincial and district municipalities should fill out the “Form 01” in the following link: https://renamu.inei.gob.pe/2026/#/login/f01

Meanwhile that the municipalities of populated centers should register their information in the “Form 02” through: https://renamu.inei.gob.pe/2026/#/login/f02

The platform allows the registration by thematic sections, data validation and monitoring of the progress. In addition, permanent technical assistance is provided to the persons responsible appointed for each municipality.

In case of municipalities of populated centers that choose the physical or paper-based format, the information should be send scanned to the e-mail renamu@inei.gob.pe or should be submitted to the INEI offices at national level.
