Domestic cement consumption increased 11.55% in February of 2026

During February of 2026, the domestic cement consumption increased by 11.55%, compared to the same month of the last year; this was informed by the National Institute of Statistics and Informatics (INEI) in the technical report Conjuncture Progress of Economic Activity.
The chief of the INEI, Dr. Gaspar Morán explained that this result is evidenced by the greater execution of real estate projects; works of companies linked to mining, electricity, commerce sectors, among others of the private sector; as well as the self-construction of households.
Production of Fishing sector decreased by 5.20%
During the second month of the current year, the Fishing sector decreased 5.20%, compared to the same month of the last year, due to the low extraction of species of continental origin by -37.04%, mainly by the lower capture for the consumption in fresh (-34.2%) and frozen (-53.5%) state.
Meanwhile that the fishing of maritime origin grew (0.74%) due to the capture of anchovy addressed to the indirect human consumption (for fishmeal and fish oil), that totalized 67,094 tons and that against the 53,284 tons extracted in February 2025 translated in an increase of 25.9%. The fishing of anchovy corresponded to the south zone of the Peruvian coastline.
Nevertheless, the landing for direct human consumption decreased 2.25% in three of its four destinations: canning (-59.1%), cured (-28.4%) and frozen (-7.6%); nevertheless, there was a greater extraction for consumption in fresh state (14.4%).
Hydrocarbons subsector decreased by 9.73%
During February of 2026, the Hydrocarbons subsector decreased by 9.73%, due to the reduction of the volume of exploitation of crude oil (-24.3%), the production of natural gas liquids (-6.2%) and natural gas (-0.5%).
The unfavourable result of the subsector was determined by the lower production of crude oil in Petrotal Perú (Lot 95), Petroperú (Lot Z-69), OIG Perú (Lot X), UNNA Energía (Lots III and IV), Ucawa Energy (Lot 131), Olympic (Lot XIII) and Corporación del Sur (Lot V); in addition of the production of Petrolera Monterrico (Lots II, XV and XX) by conclusion of the contract.
Regarding the natural gas liquids, was registered a lower production in Pluspetrol Perú Corporation (Lot 88), Repsol (Lot 57) and Petroperú (Lot Z-69), as well as the absence of activity of Aguaytía Energy (Lot 31-C). Regarding the natural gas, the production decreased in Repsol (Lot 57), Aguaytía (Lot 31-C), OIG Perú (Lot X) and Pluspetrol (Lot 56).
Electricity generation increased by 2.80%
The electricity subsector grew by 2.80%, based in the generation of hydroelectric origin energy (4.94%) and of wind-solar renewable origin energy (38.53%); nevertheless, the energy of thermoelectric origin (-8.07%).
Among the main companies that increased its production are the following companies: Termochilca S.A.C., Chinango S.A.C., Generadora de Energía del Perú S.A., Empresa de Generación Eléctrica de Arequipa S.A. (EGASA), Orygen Perú S.A.A., Orazul Energy Perú S.A., Kallpa Generación S.A., Generadora Eléctrica del Perú S.A. (GEPSA), Empresa Eléctrica del Perú S.A. (ELECTROPERU), Inland Energy S.A.C., Empresa de Generación Eléctrica Machupicchu S.A. (EGEMSA) and Empresa de Generación Eléctrica San Gabán S.A., among others.
Granting of consumer loans increased by 10.25%
During February of 2026, consumer loans placed in S/ 80,102 million, registering a growth of 10.25% compared to the same month of the last year. Followed by the mortgage credits that totalized S/71,967 million, a superior amount by 6.91% compared to February of 2025 and the credits granted to big, medium, small businesses and microenterprises totalized S/ 218,026 million, growing by 2.00%, compared to the same month of 2025.
On the other hand, the placement of credit cards of the multiple banking placed in 6,922 thousand units, with an increase of 9.00%, compared to the same month of the last year.
Total import value registered a positive variation of 11.54%
During February of 2026, the total import value was of US$ 4,967 million, registering a positive variation of 11.54%, compared to the value registered in February of 2025.
The import of capital goods and construction materials totalized US$ 1,536 million, with a growth of 23.81% compared to the same month of the year 2025. Followed by the acquisition of imported consumption goods with US$ 1,092 million, observing a growth of 7.18%, compared to the value registered in the same month of 2025. Likewise, the import of raw materials and intermediate products placed in US$ 2,340 million, increasing by 6.62%, compared to the value of February of 2025.
