Five departments concentrated the 81.0% of the potato production during January of de 2026

During January of 2026, potato production in the departments of La Libertad (118.2%), Huánuco (40.0%), Cajamarca (30.9%), Junín (7.9%) and Ayacucho (6.9%), compared to the same month of the year 2025. Together, these five departments concentrated the 81.0% of the national total. This was informed the National Institute of Statistics and Informatics (INEI) in the Technical Report Peru: Economic Outlook by Department.
Likewise, it increased in Moquegua (401.3%) and Pasco (47.4%); meanwhile it registered un unfavourable behavior, the agricultural areas placed in Lima (-70.8%), Apurímac (-51.5%), Amazonas (-33.2%), Huancavelica (-30.9%), Cusco (-24.5%) and Piura (-20.5%), among others.
At national level, potato production totalized 350 thousand 635 tons, evidencing an increase of 14.1% compared to January of 2025. This result was based in the greater areas cropped as a result of the appropriate water conditions that allowed the development of this tuber, that registers the high demand of the families and the gastronomic sector.
Piura and San Martín led the total production of paddy rice production ranking in the first places During the month under analysis, the volumes of production of paddy rice outstood in the departments of Piura (195.9%) and San Martín (20.6%), representing together the 61.5% of the national total; followed by Tumbes (1071.4%), Cajamarca (50.3%) and Amazonas (3.1%).
On the other hand, it decreased compared to January of 2025, in Lambayeque (-92.1%), Junín (-65.5%), Huánuco (- 40.1%), Ucayali (-38.6%), Pasco (-16.0%), La Libertad (-4.5%), Loreto (-2.6%) and Madre de Dios (-1.5%).
Across the country, the production of this cereal reached 195 thousand 357 tons, a higher figure in 23.3% to the registered in January of 2025, influenced by the appropriate thermal factors that favoured the maturing period of this crop destined to the domestic consumption.
Libertad, Arequipa and Lima contributed with the 83.5% of the poultry total production
During the first month of 2026, the poultry production mainly increased in the productive areas of the following departments: La Libertad (4.3%), Arequipa (3.0%) and Lima (1.6%), compared to the same month of the last year. Together of these three departments contributed with the 83.5% of the national total.
In addition, positive behaviors were observed in the following departments: San Martín (5.4%), Ancash (3.2%), Lambayeque (2.4%), Ucayali (1.4%), Loreto (1.1%) and Cajamarca (0.6%). Meanwhile that it decreased in Moquegua (-11.5%), Pasco (-7.8%), Ica (-6.3%), Ayacucho (-6.0%) and Apurímac (-5.7%), among others.
At national level, the poultry production during January of 2026, increased by 1.8% compared to the same month of 2025, based in the greater placement of BB chicken meat line.
Four departments concentrated the 51.0% of the total copper production
During January of 2026, the copper extraction grew in the departments of Ancash (24.8%), Apurímac (15.1%), Cusco (7.9%) and Junín (0.5%), contributing together with the 51.0% of the national total. Nevertheless, it contracted in Pasco (-37.8%), Cajamarca (-10.1%), Ica (-10.0%), Lima (-9.4%), Moquegua (-5.7%), Tacna (-5.4%) and Arequipa (-4.0%).
At national level, the copper production increased by 2.7% compared to January of 2025, driven by the higher levels obtained in the following companies: Antamina, Las Bambas, Shouxin Perú, Antapaccay, Chinalco Perú, Norcobre, Colquisiri and Los Quenuales.
On the other hand, the volumes extracted od other metallic minerals, such as zinc, silver, gold, tin, lead and iron, during the month under analysis, registered positive results.
Arequipa, Puno, Piura and Lima contributed with the 51.7% of the total production of electricity
During January of 2026, the production of electric energy expanded in the following departments: Arequipa (138.7%), Puno (127.2%), Piura (15.7%) and Lima (10.6%), compared to January of 2025, which contributed with the 51.7% of the total of electricity generated in all the country.
In addition, it increased in Madre de Dios (74.7%), Ayacucho (31.0%), Tacna (29.8%), Lambayeque (12.7%), Loreto (4.4%) and Apurímac (4.4%). Meanwhile that it decreased in San Martín (-36.3%), Tumbes (-34.8%), Ucayali (-29.5%), Ancash (-26.9%), Amazonas (-24.7%) and Huancavelica (-14.3%), among others.
The production of electricity increased by 4.3% at national level, compared to January of 2025, associated to the greater generation of thermic energy in the following power stations: Chilca I, Chilca II, Fénix, Ventanilla, Malacas I, Olleros and Independencia; linked to the increase of the generation of non-conventional energy, before the high production of solar energy. On the other hand, it decreased the generation of the hydraulic energy in the power stations: Quitaracsa, Cerro del Águila, Chaglla, Cañón del Pato, Mantaro and Yuncán, among others.
In 20 departmentos increase the revenues collected by internal taxes
During January of 2026, the revenues collected by internal taxes increased in 20 departments compared to January of 2025; among them, it outstood Lima (5.4%) by concentrating the 87.1% of the total collected. Followed by Ica (23.6%), Arequipa (10.9%), Piura (9.1%) and La Libertad (2.2%), among the most representatives. Meanwhile it reduced in Cusco (-54.2%), Lambayeque (-11.3%), Huancavelica (-10.1%) and Pasco (-3.2%).
During the month under study, the revenues collected by internal taxes reached 15 thousand 324 million 618 thousand Soles, higher amount in 4.8% to the collected in January of the last year, driven by the increase of the payments of the income taxation and value added tax.
