INEI will sightsee more than 1,300 households in Arequipa as part of the Demographic and Family Health Survey

The National Institute of Statistics and Informatics (INEI) Will display field personnel in the Arequipa region to visit 1,300 households – of which 1,120 are placed in urban areas and 180 in rural areas— within the framework of the Demographic and Family Health Survey (ENDES), research of national scope that is executed across the country.
This important survey allows to get key information on indicators such as fertility, infant mortality and reproductive health and general conditions of health of the population, general conditions of health of the population, contributing this way to the policy-making oriented to improve the quality of life of Peruvians.
To guarantee the normal development of this research, the chief of the INEI, Gaspar Morán Flores, reached the city of Arequipa, where it added to the labour of the technical equipment that this year will visit the households in this city (of a total sample of 36 760 households at national level).
“Today we are in Arequipa as part of the visits of inspection and support that performed across the country to guarantee the normal development of the ENDES, work that allows to make a continuous monitoring of demographic and health indicators in the country”, stated the highest authority of the INEI.
Permanent survey that is performed within the household

The interview is performed inside the house, because it registers the measurement of weight and height in children, women and persons of 15 years old and older; measurement of hemoglobin in children and women; measurement of abdominal circumference and blood pressure in persons of 15 years old and older; in addition of the measurement of iodine on salt and residual chlorine in the water of the household.
Results disseminated in four important publications
Its results are disseminated by the department in four important publications, that comprise a wide set of strategic indicators for the analysis and the formulation of public policies: Indicators of Results of the Budgetary Programs, Main Report of the Survey, Non-Communicable and Communicable Diseases and Early Childhood Development. Its results are used by national institutions to evaluate health programs and by international organizations.
ENDES allows that its results being used for each one of the regions for the design, monitoring, evaluation and accountability of public policies and budgetary programs, as well as for the monitoring of international commitments such as the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
