National production increased 3.18% in August of 2025 due to the dynamism of the majority of productive activities

During August of 2025, the national production registered a growth of 3.18%, compared to the same month of the year 2024. All the productive sectors showed a greater dynamism, except for the Fishing sector that showed a decrease in the maritime extraction. This was informed in the technical report of National Production, prepared by the National Institute of Statistics and Informatics (INEI).
During the period January-August of 2025, the productive activity increased 3.32% and in the last 12 months (September 2024-August 2025) in 3.59%.
The Agribusiness sector increased by 6.43% in August of 2025
During the month under study, the Agribusiness sector grew by 6.43%, based in the result of the agriculture subsector (9.38%), with greater volumes of olive (1,339.50%), garlic (60.8%), avocado (41.5%), starchy maize (28.7%), barley as grain (13.6%), potato (11.1%) and cacao (10.0%) production; determined by the greater surface sown of the main agriculture products, and influenced by weather factors (rains and normal to superior temperatures).
On the other hand, the livestock subsector expanded by 2.53%, based in the greater volumes of poultry (3.3%), swine (3.2%), fresh milk (3.0%) and beef cattle (1.0%) production.
A lower productive activity registered the Fishing sector
Fishing sector decreased 11.47% compared to the same month of the year 2024; due to the lower capture of species of maritime origin (-17.40%), mainly destined to direct human consumption -19.04%, in its four destinations: to preparation of cured (- 37.0%), frozen (-28.0%), preparation of caning (-12.9%) and for consumption in fresh state (-10.3%).
Regarding the fishing for indirect human consumption (fish meal and fish oil), it kept the close season stablished in the zone North-Center of the Peruvian coastline, area of greater availability, for this reason the extraction registered was of 6,208 tons, compared to August 2024 (297 tons) evidenced an increase of 5,911 tons, coming from the ports of Mollendo and Matarani.
Fishing of continental origin increased 37.79% due to the greater extraction of species for consumption in fresh state (65.0%) and preparation of cured (13.4%); nevertheless, it decreased the preparation of frozen (-26.2%).
Mining and Hydrocarbons sector showed a growth of 1.78% in August of 2025
The Mining and Hydrocarbons sector increased by 1.78%, compared to the same month of 2024; based in the positive performance of the metal-mining subsector by 0.87%, explained by the increase of the zinc (29.2%), gold (8.1%), iron (7.6%), tin (3.6%), silver (2.1%) and lead (1.5%) production; nevertheless, it reduced the copper (-2.0%) and molybdenum (-20.7%) production.
The production of the hydrocarbons subsector grew by 8.31% as a result of the greater volume of exploitation of crude oil (13.4%), natural gas (8.5%) and of liquids of natural gas (5.1%).
Manufacturing sector increased by 0.06%
According to the figures of the Ministry of Production, in August of 2025 the Manufacturing sector increased 0.06%, compared to the same month of the last year, determined by the positive result of the non-primary manufacturing subsector (1.81%); meanwhile, it decreased the activity of primary manufacturing subsector (-5.55%). The favorable result of the non-primary manufacturing subsector was explained by the production of the industry of capital goods (37.11%) and intermediate goods (0.66%); meanwhile that it reduced the industry of consumption goods (-2.03%).
The unfavorable variation of the primary manufacturing subsector obeyed to the lower activity of the branches of preparation of sugar (-38.58%); preparation and preservation of fish, crustaceous and molluscs (-35.32%); preparation of primary products of precious metals and other non-ferrous metals (-6.57%); nevertheless, the preparation of meat (2.18%) and the preparation of products of crude oil refining (21.40%) increased.
Electricity, Gas and Water sector registered a positive behavior
During August 2025, the Electricity, Gas and Water sector increased by 0.95%, compared to the same month of the last year; due to the favorable result of the electricity (0.98%) and water (1.14%) subsector; meanwhile, the production of the gas subsector (-1.59%) decreased. The growth of the electricity subsector was based in the greater energy generation of hydroelectric by 8.39% and of non-conventional renewable origin energy (wind- solar) by 3.75%; nevertheless, the thermoelectric origin energy decreased by 5.11%.
The positive result of the water subsector was explained by the greater production of the most representative companies such as Epsel (5.4%), Seda Chimbote (5.3%), EPS Seda Cusco (5.2%), EPS Tacna (5.0%), Sedalib (4.3%) and Sedapal (2.1%). Meanwhile, the contraction of the gas subsector, was explained by the lower demand of the companies (-4.4%) and of the power generators (- 1.9%).
Production of the Construction sector grew 3.60% in August of 2025
The Construction sector increased by 3.60% in August of 2025, compared to the same month of the year 2024, reflected in the greater domestic cement consumption (6.36%); meanwhile, the physical progress of public works decreased (-4.03%). The dynamism of the domestic cement consumption answered to the execution of improving works of the industrial infrastructure, commercial edifications, storage plants, among others.
The decrease of the physical progress of public works in the area of the National Government was associated to the lower investment in risk prevention works and of non-residential buildings. On the other hand, the progress of public works in charge of the Regional and Local Governments, before the greater investment in construction works of non-residential buildings; mainly.
Commerce sector increased by 3.78%
During August of 2025, the Commerce sector grew 3.78%, compared to August of 2024. The wholesale increased by 3.66% due to the sale of fuels (Gasoline, Diesel, LPG) and lubricants mainly destined to gas stations and refilling stations; metals and metal ores (copper, gold and zinc); non-specialized sale; machinery and equipment demanded by the mining and construction sectors.
Likewise, the retail sale grew (3.52%) due to the greater commercialization of fuels, in response to the growth of the vehicle fleet; sale of security products, optical frames and balances; pharmaceutical and cosmetic products increased due to the greater opening of stores and launch of new products.
The dynamism of the automotive commerce (5.81%) was determined by the demand of light, heavy and minor vehicles, through commercial campaigns and trademark portfolio. In addition, it influenced the sale of parts, pieces and accessories such as pneumatics, parts of motors and filters. As well as the maintenance and the repair of automotive vehicles that showed a positive trend due to the greater number of contracts.
Production of Transportation, Storage and Courier sector showed a variation of 4.03%
During the eight month of this year, the production of the Transportation, Storage and Courier increased by 4.03%, compared to the same month of the last year, due to the positive variation of the transportation subsectors (4.35%), as well as the storage and courier (3.18%).
In the growth of the transportation subsector influenced the greater activity of transportation by land and pipping (3.37%), before the greater displacement by road, of passengers (4.2%) and load (1.8%); transportation by pipping by 8.15%, due to the greater production of crude oil, natural gas and liquids of natural gas; and transportation by rail (2.22%) by greater movement of passengers.
In addition, the transportation by air (7.22%) increased, explained by the greater movement of passengers and load, national and international. The transportation by water increased 9.51%, before the increase of the transportation of goods by sea and of passengers by inland waterways. On the other hand, the storage and courier subsector grew 3.18%, by greater services of storage and activities of support to the transportation (3.4%) and postal and courier services (0.2%).
Accommodation and Restaurants sector increased 0.89% in August of 2025
The Accommodation and Restaurants sector increased by 0.89%, compared to August of 2024, due to the positive variation of the restaurants (0,89%) and accommodation (1.82%) subsectors. The result of restaurants subsector was based in the positive performance of the activities of food services for transportation and concessionaires’ companies (4.30%), beverage service (4.02%) and catering service (10.27%); nevertheless, the group of restaurants registered a negative result (-0.44%).
Telecommunications and Other services of Information sector registered a growth of 1.80%
During August of 2025, the Telecommunication and Other Services of Information’s sector showed an increase of 1.80%, compared to the same month of the last year, associated to the positive result of the telecommunications subsector (2.26%); on the other hand, it reduced the other services of information subsector reduced (-2.11%).
The increase of the telecommunications subsector was explained by the greater activity of the Internet and Pay TV service (5.5%), of the service of data transmission (1.0%) and telephone service (0.04%).
The contraction of the other services of information subsector (-2.11%) was determined by the negative behavior of publishing activities (-3.8%), the activities of production and film show and TV programs (-3.7%); as well as the activities of computer programming (-2.4%).
Production of Financial and Insurance sector grew 2.24%
In August of 2025, the Financial and Insurance sector increased by 2.24%, compared to the same month of the last year; due to the greater credits (2.56%) and deposits (0.63%) granted by the financial system. Credits of the financial system that registered a growth corresponded to the public (9.8%), Municipal Savings Banks (7.3%), Multiple Bank (3.8%) and Edpyme-Credits Companies (0.05%) sector; meanwhile that it partially counterbalanced this result the lower credits of the Financial Companies (-44.3%) and the Rural Savings Banks (-1.1%).
The growth of the deposits of the financial system was registered in the Municipal Saving Banks (5.1%) and Multiple Bank (2.6%).
Production of Services Provided to Companies showed a variation of 3.67%
During August of 2025, the Services Provided to Companies sector increased by 3.67%, compared to the month of August of 2024, due to the positive result of advertising and market research (5.8%), travel agencies and tour operators (4.3%), activities of administration and support of companies’ services (3.4%), as well as professional, scientific and technical activities (3.4%).
Government Services grew by 4.73% in August 2025
The Government Services grew 4.73%, compared to the same month of the last year, due to the lower activities performed by the institutions of the public administration (4,75%), defense (4.76%) and other services of government (0.43%).
